A grand farewell ‘Adeus’ was organised for the outgoing XII class at Green Land Convent School, Dugri.

The function was graced by Chairman of Chain of Green Land Schools, Dr. Rajesh Rudhra , President of the Trust Mr. Shabad Rudhra , General Secretary Ms. Usha Rudhra , Director Dr. Vijayata Rudhra and Principal Ms. Mona Thakur. The Head boy Gurjot Singh and Head Girl Jhanvi Sandal welcomed the dignitaries. In his speech Head Boy Gurjot expressed gratitude towards the management and teachers for their loving support and care throughout their academic journey. The students of Class XI welcomed their seniors and presented a captivating show of dance and music. They recreated fond memories of  golden year of school and left everyone mesmerized.

Dr. Rajesh Rudhra motivated students to aim high in life and excel in their chosen field. He elaborated on the importance of determination , self-discipline and hard work. Mr. Shabad Rudhra gave his best wishes to students and exhorted them to be responsible citizens of society . Principal Mona Thakur proposed a vote of thanks.

INTER SCHOOL SCIENCE QUIZ COMPETITION



An Inter School Science Quiz Competition was organised at Green Land Convent School, Dugri under ‘Hubs of learning’. The teams from various prestigious schools of Ludhiana comprising students of classes VI –VIII participated enthusiastically. The students’ knowledge was judged in various relevant areas through different rounds i.e audio, visual, rapid fire , buzzer round etc. The students gave a tough competition to each other.  The team of D.C.M Presidency School, Jamalpur  was declared overall winner, second place was bagged by Green land Convent School, Subhash Nagar . Green Land Convent School, 32-Sec won the third position.

Director Chain of Green Land Schools , Dr. Vijayata Rudhra gave away prizes to winners and gave her best wishes to the winners .School Principal Mona Thakur exhorted students to participate in such events to have better exposure and insight.

Republic Day celebrations at Green Land Convent School, Dugri


The celebration for forth coming Republic Day were conducted with patriotic fervour at Green Land Convent School, Dugri. The campus was beautifully decorated with tricolour balloons and buntings. Students expressed their feelings towards their nation by making posters and cards. The students of senior wing delivered speeches highlighting the importance of the day. They also presented patriotic songs and dances encompassing the real essence of diverse India. All the students pledged to uphold the honour and integrity of their nation. The whole environment got drenched in patriotic feelings.

President, Chain of Green Land Schools Mr. Shabad Rudhra exhorted students to be faithful and loyal servants to their nation. Basant Panchmi Celebrations

To mark the advent of spring season ‘Basant Panchmi’ was celebrated at Green Land Convent School, Dugri with great fervour and enthusiasm. The environment donned yellow hue as the students came in beautiful yellow attires. The decoration in every corner with yellow objects filled the aura with enthusiasm. All the students and staff members worshipped Goddess Saraswati and sought blessings.

Principal Mona Thakur apprised students about the significance of the day. She motivated students to understand and respect their inheritance and culture.

Green Land Convent School, Dugri organised Ludhiana Sahodaya Schools Complex (Central Zone) Group Song Competition

The symphony of Ragas reverberated through the atmosphere and enthralled the audience to the hilt,the occasion was Ludhiana Sahodaya Schools Complex Group Song Competition (Central Zone) organized by Green Land Convent School ,Dugri. Twelve prestigious schools of Ludhiana rubbed shoulders against each other to establish their supremacy in singing. The Chief guest for the day was Mr. Shabad Rudhra , President Chain of Green Land Schools , Ludhiana ,he was accorded a floral welcome by Principal Mona Thakur .The program commenced with traditional lamp lighting by the Chief guest. Music maestros Dr Vijayata & Ms Shradha were the judges for the competition. The host school presented a beautiful welcome song . After that soulful rendition of patriotic & inspirational songs was presented by contesting schools. It appeared that a deluge of rhythm& taal overpowered the spectators. The mind blowing harmonies with perfect pitch were suffice to leave the onlookers spellbound. Each presentation was a unique saga of creativity at it's best. The judges had a tough time finding out the best. The overall trophy was lifted by Kundan Vidya Mandir, Civil Lines . Green Land Sr. Sec. Public School Jalandhar Byepass clinched the first runners up trophy where as the second runners up trophy was bagged by Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town. Green Land Convent School , Chd-Road won the consolation prize.The winners were facilitated by the Chief Guest ,Mr. Shabad Rudhra .He appreciated the zeal & enthusiasm of the participants & congratulated the winners. School Principal Mona Thakur proposed a vote of thanks . The function culminated with national anthem.

 

LOHRI CELEBRATION AT GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI, LUDHIANA


The festival of Lohri was celebrated with religious fervor at Green Land Convent School, Dugri. The tiny-tots attired in traditional clothes added charm to the festive aura. A cultural extravaganza was presented by students of middle wing depicting the significance of the festival. A bonfire was lit and prayers were done for the well beings of all.

Mr. Shabad Rudhra, President, Chain of Green Land Convent Schools said that Lohri is a festival of unity and happiness. It should be celebrated in its true sense.

Spell Bee Competition At Green Land Convent School, Dugri


Language plays an important role in all round development of a student. To enhance the vocabulary with correct spellings ‘Inter-Section Spell Bee Competition’ was organised for Grade 2 and Grade 3 at Green Land Convent School, Dugri. This competition provided the students a platform to learn spellings in different ways. It had four rounds - Spell the word, Rearrange the words, Think and tell, Buzzer Round.

Principal Ms. Mona Thakur said that it was a wonderful learning experience for the students. She motivated the students to participate in such activities and applauded the winners for their brilliant success.

 

GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL CELEBRATED NEW YEAR 2020


The advent of New Year was celebrated with lot of fanfare at Green Land Convent School, Dugri. A dance competition organized for classes IV to VIII filled the young students with exuberance. A whole range of beautiful dances including classical, semi-classical, folk and contemporary were presented by the students. Primary wing organized a gala party where everyone danced to the melodious songs and enjoyed sumptuous dishes. The students of senior wing exhibited their culinary skills through ‘Cooking Without Fire’.

Christmas Celebration at Green Land Convent School, Dugri

The festival of happiness ‘Christmas’ was celebrated with much fanfare and enthusiasm at Green Land Convent School, Dugri. The beautifully decorated classrooms brought the feeling of Christmas alive. A cultural extravaganza centralizing the theme of Christmas enthralled everyone. The students presented Christmas Carols, poems, speeches and dances. The tiny tots attired as Santa, Fairies and elves enhanced Christmas Charisma. Little ones excitement was at peak when they received gift from Santa.

The students of Green Land Convent School, Dugri showcased a superb display of their singing skills and registered an emphatic win in an Inter School Christmas Carol Singing Competition held at Green Land Convent School, Subhash Nagar. Students of fifteen prestigious schools participated in the competition from all over Ludhiana where Green Land Convent School, Dugri bagged ‘First Position’.

‘Unity in Diversity’ celebrated at Green Land Convent School, Dugri

In an effort to manifest ‘Unity in Diversity’ of our nation, student  of Green Land Convent School, Dugri presented the cuisine of various Indian states for an inter-class competition. From delectable spicy food of southern India to savoury sweets of West Bengal, from typical sagg roti of Punjab to Bhel puri of Maharashtra, each and every presentation spoke volume about India’s diverse food platters. Students also shared recipes of different food. The enthusiasm to speak up about chosen states and its ethnic food was at the peak .

Principal Ms. Mona Thakur appreciated the spirit of students and mentioned that our country’s real beauty is in its diversity which is the common thread that binds all of us together.

Activity - Cooking Without Fire by Primary Students of Green Land Convent School, Dugri


To appraise students about cooking without fire a sandwich making activity was conducted for the students of class I at Green Land Convent School, Dugri. Students prepared a variety of sandwiches using seasonal vegetables. To enhance the taste they were encouraged to use butter and sauces. Students and teachers relished the delicious sandwiches.

Fitness Day Celebrated At Green Land Convent School,Dugri


To highlight the importance of Physical fitness, Green Land Convent School celebrated ‘Fitness Day’. The students of Primary Wing showed their mettle in different activities such as yoga, exercises, games, races, skipping, Frisbee, P.T etc. they were shown P.P.T’s on healthy and nutritious food. They were apprised about the importance of green vegetables and nutritious food that should be included in daily diet.

Principal, Ms. Mona Thakur motivated the students to give up the sedentary life style and keep them healthy through exercise and balanced diet.

Green land Convent School, Dugri Celebrates ‘12th Annual Prize Distribution Function’



The saga of accomplishments, enthusiasm and exuberance ‘Rangmanch’ the 12th Annual Day and Prize Distribution Function of Green land Convent School, Dugri was celebrated with zeal and fervour. The Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana, Mr. Pradeep Kumar Agrawal, IAS graced the occasion as Chief Guest. He was given a floral welcome by Chairman of  the  Chain of  Green Land SchoolsDr. Rajesh RudhraPresident of the Trust, Dr. Shabad Rudhra, General Secretary, Smt. Usha Rudhra, Director of the School, Dr. Vijayata Rudhra, Secretary of the Trust, Mr. Ravi Kalra, Principal of the School Ms.Mona Thakur. The other dignitaries gracing the occasion were Principals of all      Green Land Schools, Mrs. Baldeep Pandher, Mrs. Vinita Sanan, Dr. Jyoti Pujara and Mrs. Ritu.

All the dignitaries were given a gracious welcome by the school Band with a mesmerizing display of bag pipes and drums. `The Chief Guest was presented a Guard of Honour by NCC Cadets of the School.

The program commenced with traditional lighting of sacred lamp invoking the spiritual bless. The School Orchestra and Choir regaled the audience with beautifully curated music with soulful rendition of prayer and classical songs.

The function encompassed a string of myriad thematic performances.

The harmful effects of plastic were brought to the forefront through a dance drama “Plastic Pollution” which was a real eye opener and apprised everyone of the drastic impact which plastic is going to thrust on planet earth in the times to come.

A beautiful synchronization of rhythm and dance “Taal” kept the audience captivated. The exquisite dance moves presented by students in tune with breath taking music was lauded by one and all.

An obeisance to Lord Shiva, ‘Shiv Aaradhna’ left the audience spell bound. The depiction of various ways to worship lord Shiva by different groups of devotees left an indelible impression on the minds of spectators.

Gujarati Folk Garba presented the cultural diversity of our nation in the most explicit way. It was unanimously praised and cheered by the audience.

The Arabian Dance of the tiny-tots of the kindergarten wing enthralled everyone with the beautiful dance moves of little ones thoroughly in sync with the Arabian Music.

‘Chidiya Da Chamba’ an emotional Punjabi Play was presented on the callous mind set of society towards girl child, highlighting the aversion of society towards girls and depriving them from even their fundamental rights to education and descent living. The audience were flabbergasted with the powerful display of emotions by young students.

The beautiful traditional attires, vibrant music and highly coordinated movements of students set the tone for Punjabi Folk Bhangra. The energetic performance of the students compelled everyone to tap their feet to the beats of dhol.

A glorious ‘Tribute to Amitabh Bachchan’, a living legend of Indian cinema was presented through a mesmerizing choreography. It presented the journey of the Millennium Star comprising his period of struggle and his rise to the zenith of success, through beautifully choreographed songs of different eras. It indeed brought out the true essence of the life journey of a true icon.

School Principal, Ms. Mona Thakur highlighted the accomplishments of the students in the fields of academics, sports and co-curricular activities in her Annual Report. She also briefed about the year round activities conducted in the school. She exhorted the students to set higher aims for life. She thanked management, parents and students for their unflinching support.

The President of Trust Dr. Shabad Rudhra congratulated the achievers and encouraged them to perform even better in future. He further stated that the purpose of education is to prepare students for challenges of life and Greenland caters to the needs of the students.

The Chairman of Chain of Green Land Schools Dr. Rajesh Rudhra in his message emphasized that it is the duty of School and Parents together to instill values in children . He quoted Dr. Abdul Kalam  that when mothers and teachers will awake only then society will become a safe heaven for everyone. Also he whole-heartedly appreciated the grit, determination and decisiveness of Mr. Agrawal.

The Chief Guest Mr. Pardeep Kumar Agrawal, IAS awarded trophies to academically meritorious students, talented artists and sports achievers. Mr. Agrawal in his message appreciated the contribution of Green Land Schools in the field of Education. He lauded the management and the staff for their relentless dedication. In his message to students and parents he emphasized the fact that with globalization in economy co-curricular activities and innovative skills have become very important to become successful. The Chief Guest and the dignitaries were presented mementos by the Chairman and the President. The evening culminated with National Anthem.

 

Welcome Winter Activity at Green Land Convent School, Dugri Winter is not a season, It’s a celebration


To appreciate the beauty of the winter Green Land Convent School Dugri celebrated the onset of Winter Season. The students of Primary Wing welcomed the winter season by having hot drinks, shaped the snowman, enjoyed playing with snowballs and delivered speeches through which they explored the delights of winter season. They were also apprised about what to wear, what to eat and how to protect themselves during this season.

 

World Soil Day Celebrated At Green Land Convent School, Dugri



‘Caring for the planet starts from the ground’

In order to heighten the awareness of soil erosion, global decrease in degradation of soil resources ‘The World Soil Day’ was celebrated  on Dec. 5, 2019 at Green Land Convent School, Dugri. The students of Primary wing enthusiastically took part in various activities such as drawing and colouring competition, plantation, crown and wrist band making activity, healthy discussion on ‘Importance of soil’,  ‘Stop Soil Erosion’.

The President Chain of Green Land Schools, Dr. Shabad Rudhra notified that soil plays a vital role in earth’s ecosystem and encouraged students to conserve the soil to ‘Stop Soil Erosion’ and ‘Save Our Future’.

The School Principal, Ms. Mona Thakur apprised the students about the soil pollution and motivated them to protect the purity of soil and mother earth.

 

Constitution Day Celebrated At Green Land Convent School, Dugri


Constitution Day was celebrated at Green Land Convent School, Dugri with great spirit of patriotism and nationalistic sentiments. To mark the importance of this day, a grand celebration was held in the school. The school atmosphere brimmed with a feeling of pride as the students of senior classes read out the preamble of the constitution and fundamental duties.

The President of Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra in his very inspiring speech sensitized the students about the importance of the constitution. The school Principal, Ms. Mona Thakur also congratulated for the constitution day to everyone and motivated them to follow the fundamental duties for the betterment of the nation. Universal Children’s Day At Green Land Convent School, Dugri


Universal Children’s Day was celebrated with zest at Green Land Convent School, Dugri. A Fancy Dress competition was organised for the students of kindergarten. Tiny tots came dressed up as social activists, leaders, players and other famous personalities. They were apprised of the importance of the day and fundamental rights of children regarding access to education, health and security.

NCC Day Observed At Green Land Convent School, Dugri



Green Land Convent School, Dugri observed NCC day with vigour and vivacity. An array of activities were conducted by cadets to mark the importance of the day. The day started with ceremonial  March Past by NCC Cadets followed by the ‘Oath’ taking ceremony. Cadets Saibhav of class X and Sourabh of class XI delivered speeches on the various possibilities which can be explored by joining NCC.

The President of Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra stated that NCC provides platform to youth to hone their leadership skills and prepares them to join armed forces in future. The Birth Anniversary of Pandit Nehru, ‘Children’s Day’ was celebrated at Green Land Convent School, Dugri with zeal and zest. The students participated in many activities specially organised for different classes. The Kindergarteners looked vibrant in colourful attires. They tapped their feet to the tunes of popular numbers. Students of primary wing watched a motivational documentary ‘I am Kalam’. The students of senior wing enthusiastically participated in a multi genre quiz. The zeal of participants and the audience as well was spectacular.

Religious Fervor Of Gurupurab At Green Land Convent School, Dugri



Green Land Convent School, Dugri celebrated Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s 550th birth anniversary with devotion and reverence. Students and staff participated with fervor and gaiety in the holy celebrations. The function started with the ‘Shabad Gayan’ by the school choir ‘Satguru Nanak Pargatya’ which describes the journey of the world towards the light of wisdom. The students paid tributes to Guru Nanak Dev by spreading his divine message of harmony humility and equality through poem and speeches.

JUNIOR SMART KID A TALENT HUNT PROGRAMME ORGANISED AT GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI


To give a platform to showcase the innate potential of students ‘Junior Smart Kid’ a talent hunt programme was conducted by ‘PTC Punjabi’ at Green Land Convent School, Dugri. More than 300 students from all branches of Chain of Green Land Schools demonstrated their talent in singing, dancing, acting and many other genres of performing arts. The young greenknights in the age group of 10-13 years mesmerized judges with their versatility.

The Chairman of Green Land Schools, Dr. Rajesh Rudhra opined that these kinds of  activities help students to overcome their stage phobia and encourage them to exhibit their skills. President of Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra motivated students to whole heartedly participate in such extra curricular  activities  in  order  to  get  shaped  up  as  holistic  personalities. The School Principal, Ms. Mona Thakur exhorted students to push their boundaries and explore new vistas.

 

National Unity Day At Green Land Convent School, Dugri


In remembrance of the ‘Iron Man’ of India, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, National Unity Day was celebrated with vigour at Green Land Convent School, Dugri. The school was abuzz with various activities. While the students of senior wing took an oath to preserve the unity and integrity of the nation, students of middle wing presented various speeches and poems on ‘Loh Purush’ Sardar Patel. The students of primary wing participated in various hands-on activities like painting, cards-making, skits, group song and dance on the theme of national integration. The students were also appraised of the contribution of Sardar Patel in unifying India.

Mr. Shabad Rudhra, President Chain of Green Land Schools advised students to promote the feeling of national integration and patriotism. Principal of the School, Ms. Mona Thakur exhorted students to be the messengers of peace and harmony.

 

DIWALI CELEBRATION


The celebration for forth coming festival of Diwali was conducted at Green Land Convent School, Dugri with zeal and zest. The campus was beautifully decorated with diyas, candles, torans and buntings. The students enjoyed the true spirit of the festival by involving in various hands on activities. They decorated candles, diyas, thaali, made beautiful torans and rangolis. Besides this students were also apprised of the need of celebrating an ‘Eco Friendly Diwali’. They made placards and posters about Green and Safe Diwali and pledged to safe guard their environment.

President ,Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra encouraged students to celebrate a clean and pollution free Diwali. Principal Ms. Mona Thakur applauded the effort of students and gave her best wishes to all.

 

Conducted Poem Recitation Competition


Green Land Convent School, Dugri conducted a Poem Recitation Competition on 23rd Oct,2019 with the aim to explore the hidden talent of the students beyond the books. The students of classes II & III exhibited their talent and recited their poems. All the students enjoyed the beauty of expressions, thoughts, feeling, rhyme and musical words. In class II Kabir bagged “ First Position” , Jaimanpreet Kaur bagged “Second Position”, Gurnoor bagged “Third Position” and Manayta got the “Consolation Prize”. In class III  Gurbir bagged “ First Position” , Pushkar bagged “Second Position”, Jasmine bagged “Third Position” and Rhythm got the “Consolation Prize”.

Dr. Vijayata Rudra, the Director of Green Land Chain of Schools appreciated and applauded the performance of the participants and encouraged them to participate in such activities. Ms. Mona Thakur, the School Principal acknowledged the effort of students.

 

GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI LIFTS CHESS TROPHY


Green Land Convent School, Dugri added another feather to their cap by lifting Chess Trophy of ‘Punjab School State Tournament’ which was conducted at Barnala from Oct 20 to Oct 22, 2019. The teams from more than 23 districts rubbed shoulders for the coveted trophy which was eventually won by the team representing Ludhiana district. In U-17 category, Ridima (X-C) and Laksh (X-C) bagged first position where as in U-19 category, Aditi Rawat (IX-C) and Chehak (X-A) of Green Land Convent School, Dugri bagged the second position.

Global Hand wash Day at Green Land Convent School, Dugri


Students of kindergarten did the activity of Hand washing on Global Hand wash Day on 15 October,2019. Students brought hand wash liquid and towels from home. Teachers told them five easy steps to teach hand hygiene like wet your hands, lather up with soap, scrub your hands for 20 seconds. Be sure to lather the backs of your hands between your fingers and under your nails. Rinse your hands under running water, dry your hands, using the clean towel. Students were also explained Do’s and Don’ts of hand hygiene.

Dr. Vijayata Rudra, the Director of Green Land Chain of Schools   in her address opined that one important factor in keeping yourself and others healthy is cleaning hands and it is an effective and affordable way to prevent diseases.

 

World Food Day at Green Land Convent School, Dugri


In order to heighten public awareness regarding World Food problem and remove hunger , malnutrition and poverty from the world,’World Food Day’ was celebrated on 16 October,2019 at Green Land Convent School, Dugri. The students of Class II & III were shown PPTs to raise awareness towards motive of the day and provide knowledge of food problem, struggle against hunger and poverty. They were explained the aims like eliminate hunger, achieve food security and to improve nutrition.

Dr. Vijayata Rudra, the Director of Green Land Chain of Schools encouraged the students to come ahead and take pledge to end hunger, donate food to the needy and support those organisations who are working to end World hunger.

 

GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL CELEBRATED INTERNATIONAL GIRL CHILD DAY


International  Girl Child Day which is also called The Day of Girls WAS CELEBRATED AT GREENLAND CONVENT SCHOOL,DUGRI on 11 october. 2019.It was AN effort to aware about the  opportunities  for girls and to increase awareness of gender in equality faced by girls. Girl child movie was shown to the girls of KG & class I. A speech was given about famous international women personalities like Princess Diana, Indira Gandhi, Queen Victoria and famous women personalities of India like Shila Dawre, Arunima Sinha, Pratibha Patil, Kalpana Chawla.

The students of Green Land Convent School, Dugri made a superb display of their oratory skills and registered an emphatic win in the poem recitation competition held at Ryan International School, Ludhiana for the classes I to V. Many schools participated from all over Ludhiana.  In category/class III the shining star of the school Riyansh bagged first position, in category/class V Amritjot Kaur got second position and in category/class IV Drishti grabbed third position.

World Post Day At Green Land Convent School, Dugri


To aware the people about the postal sector and its importance in day to day life, World Post Day was celebrated at Green Land Convent School, Dugri on 9th Oct, 2019. The students of class I, II & III brought the post cards, envelope and stamps. They were taught to write address on it and explain how a letter reaches to its destination by posting in a letter box. The students of class XI presented financial and non-financial services. It was an effort to show a different facet of the nation that bind us and bring us close to one another.

Green Land Convent School, Dugri Girls shine in Chess


Green Land Convent School, Dugri bubbled with enthusiasm when school Chess Team (U-17 Girls) brought laurels for the school in Chess Tournament by bagging First position . It was CBSE North Zone-II Chess Tournament which was organised at Millennium School, Kurukshetra from 04.10.19 to 06.10.19. In all there were 100 teams in the tournament. The Green Land girls Aditi Rawat, Ridhima, Chehak and Laksh brought Gold Medals and certificates. Aditi Rawat and Ridhima grabbed Individual Board prize too and they got gold medals again.

Dr. Rajesh Rudhra, Chairman Chain of Green Land Schools congratulated the winners and opined that its sheer dedication and hard work which is required in every game or sports and the brainstorming done by Chess has far reaching consequences.

Green Land Convent School, Dugri celebrated Gandhi Jayanti and Shastri Jayanti


Green Land Convent School, Dugri celebrated Gandhi Jayanti and Shastri Jayanti  with zeal and great enthusiasm. The assembly began with the shradhanjali to Mahatama  Gandhi ji and Lal Bahadur Shastri ji. This was followed by a song by students in the form of an ode to these leaders of our nation. Students of class I clad in dresses depicted Gandhi Ji. Students of class II created a patriotic ambience by enhancing life of the ‘Father of Nation’,  Mahatama Gandhi. Students of class III acted as a real ambassadors of cleanliness as they have taken a step forward towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Swachh Bharat. Students of classes IV & V delivered speeches on the importance of truth, dedication and  work culture.

BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF BHAGAT SINGH CELEBRATED AT GREENLAND CONVENT SCHOOL, PHASE II, DUGRI


Birth anniversary of the eminent patriot S. Bhagat Singh was celebrated at Green Land Convent School, Dugri. Students presented different speeches on the occasion.  Life history of S. Bhagat Singh was also explained to children.

The President of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra said that we are proud of this great son of Bharat Mata whose revolutionary ideas had sown the seeds of India’s struggle for freedom. He informed the students that true patriots like S. Bhagat Singh became a role model for other revolutionaries.

The Principal of School, Ms. Aruna Kapil also addressed the students she made the students aware about the sacrifices of Sardar Bhagat Singh and added that India’s independence is the fruit of sacrifices of such great patriots.

It was a great pleasure for the students of Green Land Convent School, Dugri who has participated in District Chess Tournament held at Guru Hargobind Public School, Thakkarwal from Sept 24, 2019 to Sept 25, 2019. The category of (U–17) girls got first position and two girls Ridhima and Laksh are selected for state level. Whereas in (U-19) category girls got second position and two girls Chehak and Aditi Rawat are selected for state level in their category.

SWACHHTA HI SEVA CAMPAIGN AT GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI



Swachhta Hi Seva a massive campaign started by PM Narendra Modi, under Swachh Bharat Mission was organized at Green Land Convent School, Dugri. It was a campaign regarding mass awareness about plastic waste management. The students of the school collected waste from in and outside the campus. Different activities were done to guide children about the hazardous effects of single use plastic on the environment. Children of Classes VI to VIII prepared paper bags. Vth Standard students participated in rally.

President of the Trust, Sh. Shabad Rudhra stated on this occasion that we should use cloth or jute bags while going for shopping and should not throw plastic waste here and there as it can harm animals too. We should Contribute in PM Modi’s campaign.

 

SWACHHTA PAKHWADA AT GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI, LUDHIANA


Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the yearlong cleanliness drive, ‘Swachhta Pakhwada 2019’ is being observed in Green Land Convent School, Dugri with great enthusiasm from 1st Sept. 2019 to 18th Sept. 2019 keeping this mission in mind, during the week to celebrate ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’, all the students from Ist to XII were engaged in different activities. A special assembly was organized on the Sept. 1 & Sept. 2,  2019 to declare and adopt Swachh Bharat Campaign. Oath was taken to maintain cleanliness all around and make them aware to achieve the objective of attaining a clean environment through rally. Many students participated in Swachhata Day and Green school drive where they planted saplings inside and outside the campus to make green environment. Teachers of kindergarten explained those brilliant minds about personal hygiene and the importance of hand wash (after and before eating). On 11th Sept. 2019 “Swachhta Hi Seva” day was organized by head boy and head girl, where they explained to segregate their waste in two dustbins, wet waste in green and dry waste in blue. On 14th Sept. 2019 students organized a play spread awareness about hygiene. Letter writing competition was also organised by the students of higher-secondary. Participants was felicitated with prizes.

HINDI DIWAS AT GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI, LUDHIANA



Hindi Diwas was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Green Land Convent School, Dugri on Sept. 14, 2019. Students and teachers participated with great zeal in it. The whole atmosphere was vibrant and showing the significance of National Language. Many students of I-V presented beautiful poems showing the significance of Hindi. Students of VI – VIII made their friends aware of the importance of Hindi through a Rally. The star attraction of the programme was a skit which presented beautifully the that how important Hindi is in our country.

He said that Hindi is the cultural identity of our national integration. Its our duty that we should work for the promotion of our national language.

GRANDPARENTS DAY AT GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL ,DUGRI




Greenland convent School celebrated Grandparents day on 10th Sept. 2019 in the school campus. Students of Pre-Primary and Primary participated in this activity. The students of kindergarten walked on the ramp and exhibited casual costumes. They showed their gratitude towards their grandparents by expressing their love and feelings. The main idea highlighted through the performances was the appreciation of values, motivation and inspiration that children draw from their grandparents. Students of class I and II made beautiful cards for their grandparents. Students of class III showed their love by speaking poems for their grandparents.

The School Principal, Ms. Aruna Kapil appreciated the efforts done by the students. She said that the role of grandparents has become increasingly important in the family where children need the emotional support apart from normal parenting. The school decision to celebrate Grandparents Day is expected to bring about a positive change in the outlook of present generation.

 

Green Land Convent School , Dugri celebrated ‘Teej Fete’ with Vibrancy



Keeping the theme of enjoyment and festivity, the festival of Teej was celebrated with pomp and grandeur by the students of Green Land Convent School, Dugri , Ludhiana on August 30,2019. The function included enthralling dance performances and several enactments by the students. The tiny tots in their colourful attires reflected the gaiety and happiness.

The swings in the school were aesthetically decorated with scented flowers. It was a gala time for the students as they mesmerised the audience with the traditional songs and dances. Besides the school housed various food and exciting games stalls. The mouth-watering food stalls such as Bhel Puri, Pav Bhaji, Stuffed Kulcha and fun traditional games such as ‘Stapu-Hopscotch’, ‘Luck by chance’, ‘Poshan Pa’ etc. were a hit among the students. In addition, the ‘Nail Art and Tattoo stall’ attracted the students in large number.

The President, Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra extended his felicitations to the students and teachers. In his message, he said that motto of organising various cultural activities is to help students to relate and bond with their culture.

The Director of the School, Ms. Vijayata Rudhra added that Teej is a jovial festival of daughters and inspired the students to participate with spirit. She also exhorted the students to be proud of their rich cultural heritage and stay connected with it always.

The launch of ‘Fit India Movement’ initiated by the Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narender Modi was displayed in Green Land Convent School, Dugri, Ludhiana on August 29, 2019 to the students of IX to XII. They listened to the valuable views of Mr. Modi regarding the benefits of traditional games. They also learnt how to keep control on one’s senses with the help of ‘Yoga’. Mr. Modi asked everyone to participate in dance as it is helpful in giving strength to heart and bones. The various forms of dance of different states provide flexibility to the body. The students got inspired and took pledge to take up sports, yoga and dance to keep themselves fit and healthy.

Green Land Convent School , Dugri depicts its prowess in Punjab Board Zonal Kabaddi Tournament


The shining stars of Green Land Convent School, Dugri , emerged victorious by bagging first position in U-17 (boys) and third position in U-14 (girls) in Punjab Board Zonal Kabaddi Tournament conducted at Govt. High School , Dolo Kalan on 21st to 23rd August,2019. It was a moment of immense pride as eleven players qualified for the district tournament.

Mr. Shabad Rudhra , President Chain of Green Land Schools appreciated the students for their hardwork and dedication towards the game. The school Principal, Ms. Aruna Kapil congratulated the players for their great achievement and said that the school hopes to get many more such victories in upcoming tournaments.

 

JANAMASHTAMI CELEBRATIONS

To seek the blessings of Lord Krishna, Janamashtmi was celebrated at the Green Land Convent School, Dugri with mirth and joy. To celebrate the extra ordinary bond between students and the Almighty, the school took the opportunity to both jubilate and learn with the young minds. A fancy dress competition for Nursery to Ist class was held, where the girls were dressed up as Gopis and the boys as Shri Krishna. Students of classes 4th & 5th participated in flute making competition whereas classes 6th to 8th students participated in pot making. The life history of Lord Krishna was very beautifully depicted by colourful jhankis by the students of 9th to 12th.

There was aura of serenity as devotional songs were sung by teachers and students. The fragrance of flowers, soothing aroma of burning camphor and incense filled the air. A mesmerizing dance performance depicting the life of Lord Krishna, Styabhama and Rukmani was performed by the students. A cradle decked up with flowers “Bal Gopal” was the center of attraction. The teachers narrated stories related to Lord Krishna and his teachings.

Independence Day Celebrated



Green Land Convent School, Dugri celebrated Independence day and Rakhi making competition with unprecedented patriotic fervour on August 15, 2019. The gamut of activities was held in the campus. Students of Nursery and KG coloured the national flag and information was given by their mother teachers on National Symbols. Class I students delievered speech on raksha bandhan, Class II students performed solo dance whereas classes III-V students participated in Rakhi making competition, classes VI-VIII participated in Poem Recitation whilst IX-XII students made posters and cards. The entire school assembled in the ground. There was patriotism, unity and nationalism all around the school campus.

The President of Chain of Green Land Schools Mr Shabad Rudra congratulated the students on this glorious occasion. His message reminded the students of the sacrifices made by our great freedom fighters and made all take pledge that we would serve our motherland, India with heart and soul to bring it glory and laurels with our dignified deeds.

The Principal of the School, Ms. Aruna Kapil stated that it is day to pay our sincere tributes to all the freedom fighters who gave away their present for our future. The solemn function ended with the National Anthem whose echo vibrated all around the school campus.

 

KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS CELEBRATED



The Kargil war was an armed conflict fought between India and Pakistan for more than 60 days; it ended on July 26, 1999 and resulted in great loss of life on both sides. As a part of the commemoration of 20th anniversary of the Kargil war, Green Land Convent School, Dugri, Ludhiana celebrated the ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ from July 26, 2019 to July 31, 2019 remembering India’s victory over archrival Pakistan in the war. The school conducted various activities as a part of observing the ‘day’.

The major activities of the day included card making. poetry recitation and declamation related to Kargil. The students of classes 9th and 10th, participated in the declamation and prizes were distributed to the winners to encourage them. The students also listened to the Kargil song and were shown how the patriots sacrificed their lives for the sake of their nation.

Mr. Shabad Rudhra, President, Chain of Green Land Convent Schools addressed the students stating that the day is observed to remember the martyrs and their sacrifices. He further added that the motive of celebrating the anniversary of the Kargil war in the school is to pay tribute to the martyrs.

The Director of the school, Ms. Vijayata Rudhra applauded the staff for organizing the event that displayed the love for one’s country. She said that such gestures infuse a new enthusiasm in the lives of the young generation.

 

REVOCATION OF ARTICLE 370 HAILED


It was a moment of  jubilation  for Green Land Convent School, Dugri as well as the whole nation when the Paradise on earth ‘Jammu Kashmir’ which had been bearing hardships since independence became a full-fledged part of India. The whole lot of Indians celebrated the day when the Central Govt., led by PM Narendra Modi revoked Article 370 and 35(A) through a Presidential order in Kashmir. All provisions of the Indian Constitution shall now be applicable to Jammu Kashmir. Home Minister Mr. Amit Shah also moved a bill to bifurcate the state into two Union  Territories proposing Jammu Kashmir to be a UT with a state legislature and ladakh as a UT without legislature.

A rally was organised in the school to support the move of our worthy Prime Minister. The enthusiasm of the students as well as teachers was worth watching. Students prepared slogans and raised voices at fever pitch for India to show their happiness. All staff and students extend support to Narendra Modi’s decision of revoking Article 370 that gave the state of Jammu and Kashmir a host of special rights.

Mr. Shabad Rudhra, President of Chain of Green Land Schools congratulated everyone and explained about article 370 and stated that now people from any part of India will be able to buy property and settle in the state. He said that earlier many Indian were unable to visit Kashmir because of the circumstances there, but now, every Indian will be able to witness the beauty of our own ‘ heaven on Earth’ without fearing terrorism.

Director, Chain of Green Land School, Dr. Vijayata Rudhra too expressed her heartfelt congratulations on Jammu and Kashmir becoming the part of rest of India with removal of Article 370. She said it was a monumental decision towards national integration.

 

Green Land Convent School, Dugri conducted the ‘Tree Plantation Drive’




In an earnest attempt to sensitize the young generation about their role in conserving the environment, Green Land Convent School, Dugri, Ludhiana celebrated ‘Van Mahotsav’ week from July 18,2019 to July 23,2019 in its premises. The celebration was an ideal opportunity to instil the cognizance regarding the ‘Tree Plantation’ in the students . The students of the school participated enthusiastically in the rally to bring awareness about the green cover around our planet. Even the tiny-tots of the school were encouraged to plant saplings. They even watered the plants and were taught how to maintain the greenery around them.

The President of the Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra too commended the efforts of the students in contributing towards the environments and ensured that such activities will be executed in the future.

The Director of the school Dr.Vijayata Rudhra, also appealed to the students to protect the Green Planet. She pledged, ‘Each One , Plant One’. Citing this the students planted different types of medicinal plants like neem, Aloe Vera, Basil etc. Overall it was an enlightening and informative session for the students. The celebration ended up successfully on the note-‘Go Green, Save Future’.

International Yoga Day Celebrated At Green Land Convent School, Dugri, Ludhiana



In order to stress upon the importance of fitness, International Yoga Day was celebrated at Green Land Convent School, Dugri with great energy and enthusiasm. The Students and staff demonstrated various asanas followed by Omkar chanting. After warm up, exercises were done and all the students performed different asanas, under the guidance of their teachers. They explained the importance of performing these asanas. The students were made to perform different asanas like Tadasna, Bhujangasna, Naukaasna and many more.  The celebration concluded with synchronized recitation of shlokas. The aim of the camp was to spread the ancient Indian Heritage of Yoga, its benefits and bliss among the students.

Mr. Shabad Rudhra, President, Chain of Green Land Convent Schools participated in this event and endorsed the children to practice regular yoga to remain fit and improve concentration. He further stated that regular practice of yoga will surely help our students to achieve a better life, physically, mentally and spiritually as well. We as Indians should be proud that Yoga and its healing powers have spread all over the world.

Summer camp at Green Land Convent School, Phase II, Dugri



The school bell may stop ringing , but summer is a great time for all kinds of learning opportunities for kids . In order to take advantage of this time a summer camp was organized at Green Land Convent School, Dugri . Interested students explored their potential and expressed their creativity in various art and craft events They displayed beautifully their artistic skills. Cooking without fire helped the students prepare delicacies in summer season. Games like basket ball, skating, kabaddi , taekwondo, gymnastic & yoga were very enjoyable. In science experiments children were spell bound to see the wonderful activities. In information technology wonderful skills and animations through computers mesmerized everyone. Music and dance forced the kids to tap their feet on the beats of music. In personality development their conversational skills and manners were revamped. Majority of the students relished their activities with ultimate pleasure. They were quite enthusiastic to gain practical knowledge.

The school Principal, Ms Aruna Kapil invigorated the students and conveyed, “Camp is where you learn about yourself, facing fears, trying new things , pushing new boundaries and accepting yourself.” The children were given certificates of appreciation for their participation.

 

INVESTITURE CEREMONY AT GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI



The investiture ceremony of Green Land Convent School, Dugri for the academic session of 2019-20 was held with great pomp and dignity. It was a solemn occasion where the young bearers were all prepared to do the mantle of leadership and discharge the responsibilities entrusted upon them by the school. The members of the Student Council took the oath of office with firm resolution and determination. The elected members were administered oath by Mr. Shabad Rudhra, President Chain of Green Land Schools. The elected leaders were confessed with badges and sashes by honorable President. He stated in his address that the new Student Council is formed every year to inculcate leadership qualities in the students and to give them a sense of responsibility. He further added that this ceremony signifies the reliance and confidence that the school consigns in the newly invested office bearer.

The School Principal, Ms. Aruna Kapil also appreciated and congratulated them. She advised them to be the role model and extended a supporting hand to the students council for the smooth running of the school. The Head Boy, Gurjot and the Head Girl, Jahanvi delivered impressive speeches about their future endeavor. The School Captain badge was conferred on whereas Jaitejveer Singh and Amritjot Kaur were awarded the post of junior Head Boy and Junior Head Girl. GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL ORGANISED ORIENTATION PROGRAMME FOR KINDERGARTEN



With a view to give tips to the parents and to facilitate their teaching skills at home, an Orientation Programme was conducted at Green land Convent School, Phase II, Dugri. Parents were introduced to correct and incorrect strokes of cursive writing, basic reading skills and motor skills. The easiest method of recognition and learning of alphabet and numbers were taught to the parents. The teachers made it sure that parents should follow ‘similar techniques’ of teaching to avoid confusion in children. Many practical exercises using toys, balls and threads were performed to enhance the learning power of the kids. Parents also actively participated in the discussion and got their clarified.

The Director of Green Land Convent School, Dugri, Dr. Vijayata Rudhra presided over the function. She addressed the parents and highlighted the importance of motor skills in detail, she emphasized on the use of them for proper psychological growth of the kids. She stressed that parents should update their teaching techniques with the changing phase of education and the best parenting tip is – interaction with their kids. MOTOR SKILLS AT GREENLAND CONVENT SCHOOL, PHASE II, DUGRI


“Enjoyment is an incredible energizer to the human spirit.” This adge was made true at GreenLand Convent School, Dugri with fun and learning. Students of kindergarten enjoyed the activity of Motor Skills. It is a movement and action of the muscles. These skills are of two types – Fine and Gross Motor Skills. Students of class KG were involved in Fine Motor Skills. They took part in Origami i.e. the ancient art of paper folding. Students enjoyed a lot in this activity. It provided children a relief from academics.

Another activity was of Nsy class which included activity of Gross Motor Skills. This also included walking on steppers or balance challenging.

Dr. Vijayata Rudhra, Director of the School opined that many basic motor skills are necessary for everyday life. With the development of these skills, a child is able to complete important tasks such as writing, buttoning, jumping etc. She further said that co-ordination and balance are also important to minimize fatigue. The development of these skills can help with day to day activities.

 

MOTHER’S DAY CELEBRATED AT GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL ,DUGRI





In the wake of giving a tribute to motherhood, Mother’s Day was celebrated at Green Land Convent School with pomp and show. It was tremendous show by tiny tots of Green Land. Mothers of Children were invited to witness the grand event. They were welcomed with beautiful and cute dance performance by little angels. Many events were there to entertain the mothers. Firstly, there was Ramp Walk. Team work and co-ordination was the criteria of judgment for Ramp Walk. In that Ms. Shagunpreet Kaur (Deepinder) was chosen best personality, Ms. Vibha Joshi (Saksham) best attire, Ms. Gurmeet (Freya) beautiful smile, Ms. Upasana(Jasmeet) beautiful eyes, Ms. Simranjeet Kaur (Tanveer)  best speaker and Ms. Ashu Jaidka(Yashika) was adjudged with the best hairstyle.

There was Cooking Without Fire too. In that Ms. Sapna Sharma (Bhavesh), Ms. Manpreet (Prabh Kalsi) and Ms. Baljeet (Agamjot) were chosen as ‘Master Chefs’.
In Dance Performance Ms. Narinder Kaur(Jacqueline), Ms. Gurpreet Kaur (Samreen) and Ms. Navdeep Kaur (Fatehveer) stood First, Second and Third.

Many entertaining games were also there and winner kids were awarded with ‘Winning Caps’. In order to honour the Apostle of God (Mother). Trophies were awarded to each mother for their role in child’s life. They were given refreshment also.

Mr. Shabad Rudhra , President Chain of Green Land Schools had all praise for the performances of the little damsels and lads. He stated in his address that mothers who leave no stone unturned for their kids always deserve special applause.

Ms. Vijayata Rudhra, Director Chain of Green Land Schools thanked the mothers for sparing their time and stated that mothers are the apostle of God for their children. She further opined that the future of a child entirely depends on the fostering of mothers.

 

MOTHER’S DAY CELEBRATED AT GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL ,DUGRI


It was a gala day at Green Land Convent School, Dugri as the entire campus was engrossed in the hues and colours of the celebration of motherhood. Numerous competitions like dances, fun games, culinary, Ramp Walk and speeches were organized. Flavorsome delicacies were served to the participants. A plethora of activities were organized for the students of class I to XII. Pre-Nursery to Class III prepared beautiful and colourful cards whereas students of Class IV, V made photo frames for their mothers. An Inter House Slogan Writing Competition was organized for classes VI-VIII and Flower Arrangement Competition for class IX-XII. Beautiful slogans and cards were a sight to be seen. Kirti House was the winner in Slogan Writing and in Flower Arrangement it was Jyoti House who emerged victorious. Certificates were given to the winners by the School Principal.

Hawan Organised at Green Land Convent School, Phase II, Dugri

The Sacred tradition of Hawan Ceremony was organized at Green Land Convent School, Dugri to invoke the blessings of all the Gods and Goddesses for the welfare and bright future of the students. The Chairman, Chain of Green Land Schools, Dr. Rajesh Rudhra and the General Secretary of the Trust Mrs. Usha Rudhra, President Mr. Shabad Rudhra and Director Dr. Vijayata Rudhra, teachers and students were present on this pious ceremony. They took an active part in the hawan by chanting ‘Gayatri Mantras’. Everyone offered ‘Ahuti’ into the ‘Hawan Kund’ and prayed for the success of the students.

, the Chairman Chain of Green Land Schools detailed the meaning and utility of Hawan to the students and said that the sacred ‘Agni’ of Hawan not only purifies our surroundings but our soul also. He further explained the deep mystery of the universal syllable ‘OM’. Pandit Shri Ajay Vashisht Ji carried on the traditional practice of chanting of scriptures with the occasional explanation of their meanings. He wished and prayed for the future of the students.

LABOUR DAY CELEBRATED AT GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL ,DUGRI



Labour day, a day to commemorate the working of support staff, was celebrated at Green Land Convent School, Dugri to inculcate the value of ‘Dignity of Labour’ among kids and to teach them the importance of work. Students of kindergarten prepared beautiful and colorful cards and presented them to the Support staff which made their hearts swell with pride. Refreshment for them was also arranged by the school and the staff and distributed by classes II - V. There was a ‘Thanks Giving Speech’ by the students of VI – VIII. Very beautifully the children gave thanks to the support staff.

Mr. Shabad Rudhra, President Chain of Green Land Schools appreciated the efforts put in by the support staff and thanked them for their contribution. He added that such gestures infuse a new enthusiasm and spark in their hard work. Ms. Aruna Kapil, the School Principal acknowledged the effort of staff and students in making the day remarkable.

‘Save Earth Campaign’ at Green Land Convent School, Dugri


A plethora of activities marked the ‘Save Earth Campaign’ in Green land Convent School, Dugri from April 22,2019 to April 26,2019. The activities began with the celebrations of Earth Day on April 22,2019 by the plantation of saplings by students of almost all classes. The children were also taught how to take care of plants around them. The students of Class III participated in a rally which was organised to awaken the children about the ‘Harmful Effects of Plastic’. This was followed by various competitions like Essay Writing, Slogan Writing, Poem Recitation, Poster Making , Group Discussion etc.

Not only the treasure of students’ creativity and talent was hunted but the students were also sensitised on the critical issues regarding our Environment. Various ‘Power Point Presentations’ and ‘Short Films’ were shown to children based on the topics like ‘Saving Birds’, ‘Be Kind to Stray Animals’ so that the students should know that it is our responsibility to Save the Earth. They were also taught about the importance of insects in the food chain and ecological balance. Finally, they were given tips about how to give food and water to birds and stray dogs.

The President, Chain of Green Land Schools Mr. Shabad Rudhra also appreciated this event and enlightened the students about the importance of trees as they are the “Lungs of the Earth” and humans are damaging their own Earth, still we have time to protect our planet by planting numerous trees. He also emphasised not to use plastic bags. Further he highlighted that we should celebrate every day as Environment Day.

The Director of the School, Ms. Vijayata Rudhra devoir the students on the occasion. She created awareness among students towards environmental issues and encouraged them to make ‘Eco-Green Club’ where they can take action to improve their environment. Now, it is high-time for our present and future generation to take the responsibility of our actions, otherwise it would be too late to Save Earth.

Fresher’s Party at Green Land Convent School



Fresher’s Party was organised by the Kindergarten Wing of the school to welcome the new generation of tiny tots in the school campus. An air of europhia filled the entire Kindergarten Wing and the tiny tots could be seen in a glee mood. The boys dressed up as Rock stars while the girls were ensemble as Fairies. Their costumes were supported by a variety of masks which made them almost unidentifiable. They performed  solo dances. Simultaneously, they participated in ramp walk. All tiny tots were blooming  like  flowers in colourful dresses. They relished numerous varieties of homemade dishes with their friends and enjoyed the cheerful environment.

Baisakhi Celebrated With Fervor At Green Land Convent School , Dugri



Baisakhi , the harvest festival of Punjab was celebrated in Green Land Convent School, Dugri with gusto and exuberance. The euphoria of celebration and festivity was being observed all around. The celebration started with a soulful rendition of “shabad” by students. The participants of class Pre-Nursery to K.G were beautifully dressed up in colourful and traditional outfits. The students of class I participated in poetry recitation competition whereas classes II and III students came forward to participate in solo dance. Solo singing on Baisakhi festival was represented by the students of classes IV to XII. Their enthusiasm could be seen oozing out in their performances.

The President , Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra’s presence overwhelmed the excitement of the celebration. He conveyed his best wishes to the students and also gave an insight into the life and deeds of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, who formed the Khalsa Panth on this auspicious day. He made the students aware about the importance of the day to Green Land because the foundation stone of the Chain of Green Land Schools was laid on 13th April 1992. He asked children to be very disciplined, as being disciplined we can achieve our goals. He also highlighted the importance and contribution of Punjabi culture in the modern era.

The school Principal Ms. Aruna Kapil conveyed her devoir on this auspicious occasion. She informed the students about the martyrdom of Jallianwala Bagh. On the whole, the day was celebrated with grandeur and proved to be another day of joy.

GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI CELEBRATES BASANT PANCHAMI



Green Land Convent School, Dugri, celebrated the auspicious festival of Basant Panchami amidst great religious fervour and festivity in the School premises. The Pre-Primary and Primary classes of the School participated wholeheartedly by offering prayers to Goddess Saraswati to seek her divine blessings. The School ambience had brightened up with beautiful yellow flowers, balloons and buntings. The tiny–tots were dressed in yellow attire. A Colouring competition was held and the winners were awarded prizes and certificates. The Primary Section thoroughly enjoyed the day as they participated in large numbers in various traditional games like Hop Skotch, Skipping, Gitte etc.

The birth anniversary of Param Sant Kirpal Ji Maharaj was celebrated with great devotion and spiritual fervour . A special assembly was conducted to mark the occasion. The celebration commenced with the soulful Shabad Gayan. The students delivered speech related to the life and teachings of Param Sant Kirpal Ji

Ji Maharaj. His contribution towards the service of humanity and the world can never be outshined. The students were made aware about the supreme spiritual prowess which ‘He’ possessed.

Green Land Convent School, Dugri Celebrates 70th Republic Day




Greenland Convent School, Dugri celebrated the 70th Republic Day of India with great pride and patriotic fervour. The programme commenced with the unfurling of the national flag by Mr. Shabad Rudhra, President , Chain of Greenland Schools along with School Director Ms. Vijayata Rudhra.

This was followed by a tribute to the idol of ‘Bharat Mata’ and an impressive march past by the school NCC wing. Everyone present took pride in glorifying and celebrating the spirit of unity. To mark the importance of this day, a grand celebration was held in the school, and the day witnessed a cultural bonanza of activities. The school atmosphere brimmed with a feeling of pride as the children presented dances on the medley of  Patriotic songs and the recital of the national song Vande Matram.

Mr. Shabad Rudhra in his very inspiring speech sensitized the students about the importance of the freedom that we have got as a result of the supreme sacrifice made by our freedom fighters. He advised them to always be loyal and truthful towards one’s country.  He passionately spoke about as to how the students of today hold the future of their country in their hands and said that Republic Day marks the celebration of Indian culture and its glorious past. The school Principal Ms. Aruna Kapil also congratulated each and every one on this august occasion and motivated the students to be the enlightened citizens of the country.

The programme came to an end with an oath of allegiance to the Republic of India and the rendition of the National Anthem.

 

GURUPURAB AND LOHRI CELEBRATION AT GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI





The entire campus of Green Land Convent School, Dugri wore a pious ambience as the school celebrated the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji with devotion and great religious sanctity at Green Land Convent School, Dugri. A Special assembly was conducted to mark the occasion. The Students were given an insight into the life of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, his teachings and philosophy. Students delivered speeches and religious hymns related to life of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Soulful Shabad Gayan lent a spiritual aura.

The festival of Lohri was celebrated later in the day with great zeal and enthusiasm. Whole school took part in the celebrations. The students danced on the beat of ‘Nigga Nigga Lohri’ and ‘Sunder Munderiye’. The Tiny Tots came attired in traditional Punjabi dresses and brought delicious Punjabi Food. Some students sang songs and bolians’. Students and the teachers enjoyed the warmth of bonfire. All the legends related to Lohri, including that of Dhulla Bhatti (the Robin Hood of Punjab) were narrated to the students by the President of the School.

The President, Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra bestowed his best wishes on both the occasions. He accentuated the importance of ‘Gurbani’, emphasizing that ‘God is One’ and He resides in every human heart. Later, he explained the role of ‘five elements’ of nature and their importance, and the significance of ‘Lohri Fire’. GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI CELEBRATES CHRISTMAS FETE WITH GAEITY




The school campus of Green Land Convent School, Dugri was transformed into a mini carnival as the festival of Christmas was celebrated in the school on December 22, 2018 with great fervor. Decorated in vibrant hues of confetti and balloons, Christmas and Santa Claus miniatures the school had an ambience of joy and happiness all around. The tiny tots in their colourful attires reflected the joy and happiness.

It was an ideal day for fun and frolic as the school housed various food and an array of exciting game stalls. The mouthwatering food stalls such as Bhel Puri, French Fries, Pav Bhaji, Chaat and Stuffed Kulcha were a hit among the students. The tiny tots loved the fun games such as Feed the Demon, Snake and Ladders and Hit the Bull’s Eye. To entertain the grown-ups there were much loved computer games, Pencil sketches from live photographs and short movie shows. The school orchestra and the DJ amplified the level of entertainment among all present. In addition, the Nail Art and Tattoo stall attracted the students in large number. Bhoot Bangla was the centre of attraction for the junior as well as senior students.

The President, Chain of Green Land Schools, ‘Mr. Shabad Rudhra’ extended his felicitations to the students and the teachers. In his message he said that this kind of exposure develops marketing and creative skills in students. He also conveyed his best wishes to the students and the staff on Christmas. The 11th Annual Prize Distribution Function of Green Land Convent School, Dugri was held on 1st Dec., 2018 with great zeal and fervour in the School premises.

The  Chief Guest  for the evening was S. Sartaj Singh Chahal, IPS, ACP, Ludhiana who was given a floral welcome by the Chairman of the Chain of Green Land Schools, Dr. Rajesh Rudhra, President of the Trust, Sh. Shabad Rudhra, General Secretary, Smt. Usha Rudhra, Director of the School, Dr. Vijayata Rudhra, Principal of the School Ms. Aruna Kapil ,Dr. Narinder Dhand and Mr. Ravi Kalra, Members of the School Managing Committee, Ms. Baldeep Pandher, Principal Green Land Senior Sec Public School, Ms. Vinita Sanan, Principal Green Land Convent School 32-Sector, Ms. Jyoti Pujara, Principal Green Land Convent School Subhash Nagar and Ms. Ritu, Principal Green land Convent School Civil City.

The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the Hon’ble Chief Guest S. Sartaj Singh Chahal (IPS,ACP) escorted by the Chairman, Principal and other dignitaries. The School choir regaled the audience by their soulful rendition of Ganesh Vandana sung by 70 students on the beats of the School Orchestra, followed by a scintillating dance performance “Hoola Lala” by the Kindergarten students. The Director of the School Ms. Vijayata Rudhra welcomed the eminent guests and introduced the Hon’ble Chief Guest to the gathering. The audience witnessed a spiritual bliss through the dance recital “Krishna Vandana” with an invocation to “Lord Krishna” an embodiment of love, the darling son of yashoda, an archenemy of vicious asuras, a savior of the righteous people in the world . The evening became more vivid and lively with the little damsels from the primary section lending a traditional aura by dancing to the tune of “Ghoomer”.

This entailed another dance composition representing the marvellous and unrivalled excellence of Green Land in sports. The acting talent and flair of the students was seen through the Punjabi Skit “Toya” with a strong message of how society has become indifferent towards the plight of a common man. This was followed by a foot tapping traditional “Haryanvi Dance”.

The President of the Trust, Mr. Shabad Rudhra congratulated the achievers and encouraged them to perform even better in future. He further stated that the purpose of education is to prepare students for challenges of life and Greenland caters to the needs of the students.

The play “Jigri” profoundly aroused the emotions of the audience by bringing out the selfishness and insensitivity of parents towards ‘the girl child’ with a strong message that how girls are a ‘uniting force’. A dance tribute to the versatile actress “Sri Devi” was an added attraction for the audience.

The Chairman cum Director of the Chain of Greenland Schools, Dr. Rajesh Rudhra in his speech exhorted everyone to follow the path of Krishna that is righteousness. He stated that ‘Right Karma’ means doing justice with everyone and everything which is always going to reward us. Like all his lectures he didn’t miss the reference of mother, an apostle of God. He advised students never to forget their School and their Parents and their relentless efforts to make them what they are.

The Chief Guest praised the toil and success of the students in various fields and congratulated them. In his precious words he stated that students should establish milestones in the journey of success, fame to their parents and School. He made the students aware about the ill effects of social media if not used carefully. He was very happy to witness the remarkable achievements of Green Land Convent School and how the school has reached enviable heights within a decade. He further stated that achievements already made by the school are a testimony to the vision of its Founders, and are a clear indicator of what they are heading for. 

The function culminated with much awaited Prize Distribution Ceremony wherein the worthy Chief Guest S. Sartaj Singh Chahal gave away the trophies to the academically meritorious students, talented artists and sports achievers. The Chief Guest and the dignitaries were presented mementos by the Chairman and the President.

The senior students performed “Gidha” and “Bhangra” attired in traditional bright costumes, dancing to the pulsating rhythm of the ‘Dhol’ with tremendous energy and exuberance bringing out the true spirit of Punjab and its culture.

The evening came to its culmination with the rendition of  “National Anthem”.

 

Children’s Day Celebrations At Green Land Convent School, Dugri

The Birth Anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru  was celebrated as Children’s Day at Green Land Convent School, Dugri with great pomp and show. Many activities and competitions were conducted to mark this special day. Everyone enthusiastically participated in these thought provoking and entertaining activities. The tiny tots were looking adorable in colourful clothes. Sports Meet Was organised for Primary Classes. Many sports activities like ‘Frog Race’, ‘Flat Race’, ‘Spoon and Lemon Race’,’Hurdle Race’ etc. were there to entertain children. Activities like ‘Poem Recitation’,’Poster Making’, Flower Arrangement’ and ‘Fun Games’ were organized for the students of classes VI to VIII. Students of Classes IX and X participated in ‘Poster Making’, ‘Speech’ and ‘Mimicry Competitions’. Beautiful posters were made by them on children’s day. A documentary on the life of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru was shown to the students.

The President, Chain of Green Land Schools Mr. Shabad Rudhra congratulated and stated that children are the real asset of the nation. Their safety, security, physical and moral development should be the top priority of the educationists. The Director of the school, Dr. Vijayata Rudhra also greeted the children on this day. In her message she said that each and every child should have access to education despite the financial constraints or social class. DIWALI CELEBRATIONS IN GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI

In the spirit of Diwali Celebrations an array of activities for students from Class Nursery to X were organized in Greenland Convent School, Dugri. It was mass participation of the students. Creativity and energy was visible everywhere. The school campus was traditionally decorated with diyas, flowers, buntings, etc. The whole school reverberated with energy and enthusiasm. The tiny tots of class Nursery took part in ‘Thali Decoration’. The Kids of class K.G participated in the activity ‘Cooking without fire’ and learned to make ‘Coconut Ladoos’, the activity was conducted to inculcate a love for ‘Home made sweets’. Students of class I participated in ‘Lantern Making’. A colourful rally was taken out by the students of class II on the theme ‘Say No to Crackers’. A debate on the topic ‘Green Diwali’ was organised by the students of class III . Diya and Candle Making activity was organised for class III to VI. Beautiful Torans were made by the students of class VII & VIII. ‘Matki Decoration Competition’ was organised for the students of class IX to XII. An Inter-House Rangoli Competition was also organised.

Mr. Rajesh Rudhra, Chairman, Chain of Green Land Schools appreciated the efforts of the students. He said the purpose of education is not only to develop the required knowledge but to develop the capacity and mindset of creation and possibilities. He wished all a Happy and Safe Diwali. Green Land Convent School, Dugri Emerges Victorious in English Declamation Competition

The students of Green Land Convent School, Dugri made a superb display of their Oratory skills and registered an emphatic win in the ‘English Declamation Competition’ held at ‘Victoria Public School’, Lehra, under the ageis of Ludhiana Sahodaya School Complex(Central Zone). Students of ‘Thirteen’ schools participated from all over Ludhiana in the three categories. In category A (VI-VIII) the student of the school Aditi RawatbaggedFirst Position’ and category C (XI-XII) Shivangi OjhabaggedSecond Position’.The school was also awarded the ‘Overall Trophy’.

The President of the School, Mr. Shabad Rudhra congratulated the students on their achievement and motivated them to participate in such activities as they enhance various skills and give a boost to their confidence. National Unity Day Celebrated at GreenLand Convent School, Dugri

‘National Unity Day was celebrated at Green Land Convent School, Dugri to mark the birth anniversary of  ‘Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’ popularly known as the ‘Iron Man Of India’. Students were made aware of the life details and achievements and his role in uniting India and promoting ‘ National Integrity’. Students prepared a ‘Power Point Presentation’ reflecting his works and also informed them about the proud achievement of India as the tallest statue of the Iron Man with the height of 182 metres inaugurated recently. Students also took  pledge of ‘National Unity’

GreenLand Convent School, Dugri Proved Their Aesthetic Skill In Sahodaya Fine Arts Competition

The students of Green Land Convent School, Dugri portrayed their exemplary aesthetic  skills in the Fine Arts Competition held under the aegis of Ludhiana Sahodaya School Complex at ‘Guru Nanak International School Modeltown’. The Students of the School participated in both A and B Category. In Category B(XI & XII) ‘Rahul Bhosla’ of Class XI bagged the ‘First Prize’ whereas  ‘Kritika’ of  Class XI got  Consolation Prize.The School bagged the First Runner Up Trophy also.

The President of  the School, Mr. Shabad Rudhra congratulated the students on their achievement and said that such competitions enhance the creativity of the students as they get to compete with best talent of all the other Schools. GreenLand Convent School, Dugri Wins Hindi Declamation Competition

The students of Green Land Convent School, Dugri made a superb display of their Oratory skills and registered an emphatic win in the ‘Hindi Declamation Competition’ held at ‘Guru Nanak International Public School’ ( I-Block), under the aegis of Ludhiana Sahodaya School Complex(Central Zone). Students of ‘Fourteen schools participated from all over Ludhiana in the three categories. In category A (VI-X) the student of the School ‘Jhanvi Sandal’ bagged ‘Third Position’ and category B (XI-XII)  ‘Parambir  Singh’  bagged “Second  Position’. The school was also awarded the Overall Trophy.

The President of the School, Mr. Shabad Rudhra congratulated the students on their achievement and motivated them to participate in such activities as they enhance various skills and give a boost to their confidence. Hawan Organized at Green Land Convent School, Phase-II, Dugri

The sacred tradition of Hawan ceremony was organized at Green Land Convent School, Dugri to invoke the blessings of all the Gods and Goddesses for the welfare and bright future of the students. The Chairman, Chain of Green Land Schools, Dr. Rajesh Rudhra and the General Secretary of the Trust Mrs. Usha Rudhra, President  Mr. Shabad Rudhra and the Director Dr. Vijayata Rudhra, Secretary Mr. Ravi Kalra, Ms. Rashmi Kalra , Dr. Narinder Dhand, Dr. Ashok Dhand, Ms. Vinita Sanan(Director), The Principals of various Green Land branches Ms. Baldeep Pandher, Ms. Jyoti Pujara, Ms. Ritu, Ms. Aruna Kapil, teachers and students were present on this pious ceremony. They took an active part in the hawan by chanting ‘Gayatri Mantras’. Everyone offered ‘Ahuti’ into the ‘Hawan Kund’ and prayed for the success of the students.

Dr. Rajesh Rudhra Rudhra, the Chairman, detailed the meaning and utility of Hawan to the students and said that the sacred ‘Agni’ of Hawan not only purifies our surroundings but our soul also. Mr. Shabad Rudhra, the School President explained the deep mystery of the universal syllable ‘OM’. Dr. Vijayata Rudhra conveyed her wishes on the sacred occasion. Pandit Shri. Ajay Vashisht Ji carried on the traditional practice of chanting of scriptures with the occasional explanation of their meanings. He wished and prayed for the future of the students.

Mehndi Competition on Karwa Chauth at Green Land Convent school, Dugri

An Inter-house ‘Mehandi Competition’ was organized at Green Land Convent School , Dugri to celebrate the auspicious festival ‘Karwa Chauth’. Students enthusiastically took part and portrayed their creative and artistic skills by applying myriad designs of mehandi. The winners were awarded with certificates.

The President of the School, Mr. Shabad Rudhra conveyed his best wishes to the staff on the pious occasion and congratulated the winners. Referring to the rich Indian culture and traditions he said that such activities help us in keeping alive the true spirit of our festivals. Ms. Aruna Kapil, the School Principal applauded the effort of the students and their zeal to participate in such competitions. Jamboree-Kids Funfair organised by Green land Convent School, Dugri

Kids Funfair, Jamboree was organised at Green Land Convent School, Dugri in which more than 200 tiny tots from different play schools participated with great zeal and enthusiasm.

The Occasion was presided over by the Chairman, Chain of Green Land School, Mr. Rajesh Rudhra and the General Secretary of the Trust Mrs. Usha Rudhra. They were accorded a warm floral welcome by the President of the Trust, Mr. Shabad Rudhra. Also present on the occasion were Director of the School Dr. Vijayata Rudhra, Ms. Baldeep Pandher, Principal Green Land Sr. Sec. School, Jalandhar Bye Pass and Principal of the School Ms. Aruna Kapil. Principals of all play schools in the vicinity were specially invited.

A sports meet and a group dance competition was organized to channelize the various skills among the little ones under the age group of 2.5 to 4.5 years. The tiny athletes did not lag behind in any way and took part in various sporting events like Flat Race, Frog Race and Tricycle Race. Various stalls of games like Feed the Clown, Catch the Fish and Snakes and Ladders were specially set up by the school staff which multiplied the excitement of the kids.

The special attraction of the event was the ‘Group Dance Competition’, in which the teams from different playways participated and the little angels set the stage on fire with their moves and twists and portrayed their dancing skills.

The first prize was bagged by ‘Babies Paradise Playway ,the second position went to ‘Birds Care Playway’ , the third prize was bagged by ‘Sunrise Nursery School’ and consolation prize was awarded to ‘Kids Land Playway’. The winners of the sports events were also awarded with gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.

The Chairman, Mr. Rajesh Rudhra extolled the efforts of the Principals and staff of the play schools in preparing and nurturing their tiny tots diligently with love and affection. Mr. Shabad Rudhra, President, Chain of Green Land Schools congratulated and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the invitees for their exuberant participation in the event. Green Land Convent School, Dugri, Ludhiana Glistens in Taekwondo Tournament

Students of Green Land Convent School, Dugri brought laurels for the school in Punjab School District Taekwondo Tournament held at Guru Nanak Stadium from Sept, 29 to October 1, 2018. In the U-14 category (Boys), Vikas clinched the gold medal and Shivpreet got silver. In the same category for (Girls), Jasleen bagged silver medal In the U-17 category (Girls), Divanshi bagged the gold medal and Mitali bagged the silver medal. Divanshi (U-19) and Vikas (U-14) were selected for the state level tournament.

The students of Green Land Convent School, Dugri yet again proved their mettle in the District level Chess Tournament held at Guru Hargobind Public School Thakkarwal from September 4th to September 6th 2018. In the Under 19 category (Boys) Tanvir Singh, Gurbir Singh, Ujjwal, Arpit and Harpreet bagged First position, whereas in the Under - 17 Category (Boys) Vineet, Anmol, Ekamjot, Naman and Prabhpuneet bagged ‘Third’ position. Adding another feather to the cap of Green Land, three students Tanvir Singh (XII Comm.), Gurbir Singh (XII Sci.) and Naman (X-A) were selected for the Punjab State Level Chess Tournament.

The Green Knights Aditi Rawat, Laksh Kaur, Pavneet Kaur , Bhumi and Rohini bagged First Position . Aditi of Class VIII and Laksh Kaur of Class IX- C were selected for the State Level.

JANMASHTAMI CELEBRATIONS IN GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI

Janmashtami, the birth of Lord Krishna was celebrated with great religious fervour at Green Land Convent School, Dugri. The school wore a look of ‘Brij-Dham’ as tiny- tots dressed up as Radha, Krishna and ‘Brijwaasis’ added a traditional touch to the entire celebrations. The whole ambience oozed out divinity and festivity with colourful flowers, decorated swings, buntings and the ‘Dahi-Haandi’.

There was an aura of serenity as devotional songs were sung. All the staff members and the students took part in the pious rituals which were performed by the honourable dignitaries. The fragrance of flowers, soothing aroma of burning  camphor and incense filled the air.  A mesmerizing dance    performance depicting the life of  Lord Krishna was performed on the occasion. A cradle decked up with flowers, ‘ Bal Gopal’ was the centre of attraction. Students from various classes enacted various scenes from the life of Lord Krishna. The teachers narrated stories relating to Lord Krishna and his teachings.

Mr. Shabad Rudhra, President Chain of Green Land Schools in his address said that Lord Krishna motivated the students to follow the route of Karma, dharma, love and devotion in every field of life to attain success. Dr. Vijayata Rudhra, Director of the school extended her warm wishes on this auspicious occasion. Green Land Convent School, Dugri depicts its prowess in Punjab Board Zonal Kabaddi Tournament

The players of Green Land Convent School, Dugri , emerged victorious by bagging first position in U-14 category and second position in U-17 category and second position in U-17 category (Boys) in Punjab Board Zonal Kabaddi Tournament conducted at Govt. Sr. Sec. School , Lalton Kalan on 23rd and 24th August. It was a moment of immense pride as eleven players qualified for the district tournament.

Mr. Shabad Rudhra , President  Chain of Green Land Schools appreciated the students for their hardwork and dedication towards the game. The school Principal, Ms. Gurpreet Kaur congratulated the players for their great achievement and said that the school hopes to get many more such victories in upcoming tournaments.

 

72nd Independence Day Celebration on August 15, 2018

Independence day was celebrated at Green Land Convent School, Dugri with great spirit of patriotism and nationalistic sentiments. The entire school was immersed in the tricolor on the occasion. Kindergarten classes were decorated with tricolor balloons, students brought tricolor food in their tiffin. Students dressed in tricolour supported with tricolor bands, hats, ribbons etc. The National Flag was hoisted by the school Principal and the national Anthem was played by the NCC Band. The school chorus team performed a group song brimming with patriotic feelings.

The President of the school, Mr. Shabad Rudhra gave his best wishes on the occasion. He recalled the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and added that the young generation should value this freedom and untax themselves from the servitude of gadgets which is more or less becoming an addiction . Ms. Gurpreet Kaur, the school Principal emphasized the importance of upholding the Indian Culture amidst this transforming scenario of globalization. The function ended with the singing of national Anthem.

 

TEEJ FESTIVAL CELEBRATED AT GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI

The traditional ‘ Teej festival’ was celebrated with great zeal and grandeur in Green Land Convent School ,Dugri. Entire school was involved whole heartedly in the celebrations. Various competitions were organized to mark the occasion. The kindergarten students attired in traditional Punjabi dresses attracted everyone’s attention. These little angels enchanted the audience with their performances. The tiffins of Primary –section students contained the special teej delicacies like ‘malpuras’ and ‘ kheer’. A house wise Mehandi Competition was organized . The students , specially girls of VI to XII participated very enthusiastically in this competition . Arts department organized a ‘Phulkari design’ and ‘Pakkhi decoration’ competition on the theme of ‘Teej’ for classes IV and V . ‘Giddha’ and ‘Punjabi Dances’ were performed on the tunes of melodious Punjabi songs by the students. Geet Kaur of class Nursery was selected as Ms. Teej and Garrisondeep Singh of class KG was titled Mr. Teej, who donned Punjabi dresses and performed dances very well . All the students danced in the lap of nature and had great time on specially decorated swings.

The President, Chain of Greenland Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra, presided over the function. He addressed the students and informed them about the vitality of our culture and tradition. He added that modernization and tradition should go hand in hand and it is our duty to bind this generation to its rich heritage otherwise it will go astray. The Director of the school, Ms. Vijayata congratulated the students on the occasion and in her message conveyed that such functions not only bring the students near to their religion and culture , but rejuvenate them to work and study with even more perfection. Van Mahotsav celebrated in Green Land Convent School, Dugri, Ludhiana

Green Land Convent School, Dugri organized a tree plantation drive to celebrate ‘VAN MAHOTSAV’ on 20th July,2018. The students from Grade – I to  XII participated in the celebrations with zeal and enthusiasm. The students were motivated to plant more trees to make the Mother Earth Green. The students of Primary and Secondary sections planted saplings of medicinal plants, flowering and fruit bearing plants under the guidance of their teachers and activity Incharges. They also participated in Posters and Slogan Writing competition on preservation of trees and maintaining ecological balance.

The President, Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra gave various tips to the students on how to safeguard and protect the  environment , which is the greatest need of the hour. The school Principal ,Ms. Gurpreet Kaur in her address encouraged the students to preserve trees , prevent global warming and reduce pollution levels. She added that it is the responsibility of each citizen not only to grow trees but also to take care and protect the environment in every possible way. NCC Cadetsof Green Land Convent School , Dugri conduct Tree Plantation Drive

The NCC cadets ( Army Wing ) of Green Land Convent School, Dugri, Ludhiana organised a ‘Tree Plantation Drive’ outside the school premises today with great enthusiasm. 50 NCC cadets from the school took part and they planted 100 saplings of various medicinal and flower bearing plants during the drive.

The School Principal ,Ms. Gurpreet Kaur presided over the function. Associate NCC Officer  Gurpreet Singh was also present. Speaking to the Cadets on the occasion,         Mr Shabad Rudhra, President ,Chain of Green Land Schools, highlighted the imperative need for planting more trees. He also called upon the cadets to take a resolve to ensure that the saplings are looked after. The drive forms a part of the NCC activities in the region aimed at promoting a green and clean environment in the city.

 

GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI, WINS CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP

The students of Green Land Convent School, Dugri, brought honour and laurels to the institution by winning the overall championship of Ludhiana Sahodaya Schools, Central Zone Chess tournament held at Ryan International School, Dugri on 26th July, 2018.

In the Under- 8 girls and boys category, Mischelle and Reyansh Rawat of Standard II, won the first position and  second position respectively, as well the hearts of the crowd by their fascinating game style. In

Under -12 category,  Rohini Maheshwari and Kanwardeep Singh bagged gold while as in Under- 14 Category Aditi Rawat won the first position thus contributing to the title win. Mr Shabad Rudhra, President, Chain of Green Land Schools, appreciated the students for their hardwork and dedication towards the game. The School Principal Ms. Gurpreet Kaur said that this achievement has made the school proud and the school hopes many more such victories in the upcoming tournaments.

 

Colours Day celebrated in Green Land Convent School, Phase-II ,Dugri

The Kindergarten sections of Green Land Convent School, Dugri observed ‘Colours Day’ amidst lot of enthusiasm and happiness . It was a very pleasing and exciting moment for the tiny-tots, as they were dressed up in colourful attires . Each classroom was decorated based on a particular colour theme , the little ones brought a variety of  food items and held colourful balloons . The zeal of the event mesmerized the teachers and the students . Teachers also participated enthusiastically by wearing same colour dresses as their students were wearing . The rainbow hues enhanced the glitz and glamour of the kindergarten section.

Speaking on the occasion , the Principal of the school, Ms.Gurpreet Kaur co-related childhood with colours as it is  most colourful phase of human life ; children have the freshness like flowers. She added that such events create interest of the youngsters towards environment and help them to recognize the different colours around them.

 

Fruit - Chaat Activity

The Kindergarten students of Green Land Convent School celebrated ‘Fruit-Chaat Day’ on May 25, 2018 i.e Friday. This funfilled activity was planned to promote healthy eating habits amongst children . The mouth-watering chaat was prepared with a variety of fruit  presented on beautiful fruit trays and all the children relished it . The teachers taught the children to wash fruits on their own and also exhorted them to help their mothers at home in their  daily chores. The tiny – tots also wore the chef caps to make this activity more interesting and attractive.

The School Principal , Ms.Gurpreet Kaur  encouraged students to eat a well balanced diet for a good health. It was indeed a fruitful day. The value of ‘Sharing is Caring’ was highlighted through this activity. The day ended with great joy and big smile on the faces of the children.

 

Parents Orientation Programme at Green Land Convent School, Dugri, Ludhiana

Green Land Convent school organised an orientation programme for the parents of the students of kindergarten section on Saturday, May 19,2018 to share the school’s vision and commitment to provide high –class  education and to showcase  that ‘Every child is special’ through our day to day interactions with each student.

The teachers gave an insight into the teaching methodologies and school through a brief presentation. They also discussed and shared a few guidelines on effective parenting . One of the objectives of the orientation program was to demonstrate how the curriculum involves self –directed , hands on learning activities which not only give vent to the child’s creative talents and energies but also help in the holistic development of the child.

The orientation helped reaffirm the teachers and parents role as partners in the progress of their child.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY IN GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI

An impressive Investiture Ceremony of Green Land Convent School, Dugri today marked a significant beginning of the new academic year. It was a solemn occasion where the young torch bearers were all prepared to don the mantle of leadership and discharge the responsibilities entrusted upon them by the school. The members of the Student Council took the oath of office with firm resolution and determination. The elected members were administered oath by , Mr. Shabad Rudhra, President, Chain of Green Land Schools . He presented badges and sashes to the deserving student leaders . He said that the new Student Council is formed every year to inculcate leadership qualities in the students and to give them a sense of responsibility . The deserving young talents of the school were inducted with the responsibility of leading their school with their commitment, confidence and competence.  The School Principal, Mrs. Gurpreet Kaur congratulated the newly appointed leaders of the school. She said that discipline is the fundamental necessity of a school life and wished them good luck for performing their tasks flawlessly. The Head Boy, Bhawik and the Head Girl, Diya  delivered impressive speeches about their future endeavour. The badge of School Captain was conferred on Deepti of Class XII-Commerce where as Bhavleen and Aatmaj were awarded the post of Junior Head Boy and Junior Head Girl. The function ended with the rendition of the school motto, ‘Be Good, Do Good, Be One’ and the National Anthem.

 

Labour day celebrations at Green Land Convent School, Dugri

May 1 was celebrated as Labour Day in Green Land Convent School , Dugri to  inculcate the value of ‘Dignity of Labour’ among kids and to teach them the importance of work. Students of kindergarten prepared beautiful and colorful cards and presented them to the Support staff which made their hearts swell with pride. Refreshment for the support staff was also arranged by the school and the staff.

Mr. Rajesh Rudhra, Chairman chain of Green Land school praised the effort put in by the support staff and applauded them for their contribution. Ms. Gurpreet Kaur, the school principal acknowledged the effort of staff and students in making the day a memorable one. She said that such gestures infuse a new zeal and spark in their work.

 

Apnakar (Income Tax Tree Plantation Drive) at Green Land Convent School, Dugri

A Tree Plantation Drive as a part of Mass Tax Awareness Drive organized by the Income Tax Department, Ludhiana held an informative and thought provoking session  at Green Land Convent School, Dugri. Sh. Arvinder Singh, IRS, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, Range-3, Ludhiana was the honourable Chief Guest, who was accorded a warm floral welcome by the school principal. The other guests who graced the occasion were Sh. Hari Narayan, Inspector, Income Tax and Ms. Charu Madaan, DEO. Sh. Arvinder Singh, planted the ceremonial ‘Apnakar’ trees, along with the dignitaries,   the school Principal Ms. Gurpreet Kaur, staff and students. A career guidance session was held at Green Land Convent School, Dugri for the students of classes XI and XII in the school hall to open their minds to the vast avenues in the world of foreign education. Ms. Jill K. Lemond, Director of International Operations, Oxford Community schools along with Ms. Chun Chun Tang, Director of International Programs, briefed the students about the Oxford University and the diverse opportunities it offers in academics, sports, arts and IT. The students were also made aware of the importance of international exposure offered by the University, the extravagant campus, frequent scholarship programs and the wide range of facilities it has for its students.  The President of Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra along with, Dr. Vijayata Rudhra (Director) welcomed the guests with a Bouquet of flowers. In his address, Mr. Shabad Rudhra said that good and quality education is a must for students to grow to their maximum potential .He also said that such sessions definitely play a major role in shaping the destiny of students and prepare them for success at a global level. NCC Cadets Enrollment in Green land Convent School, Dugri

The NCC cadets of 2018-19  were selected at Green Land Convent School, Dugri under the stewardship of  Commanding Officer Harmanjeet Singh ( Army Wing),Punjab Batallion,NCC Ludhiana and under the able leadership of Subedar Major Jagmohan Singh ,Naib Subedar Parwinder Singh ,Constable Karamjit Singh  School Principal Ms.Gurpreet Kaur and  A.N.O. Gurpreet Singh.The cadets also  underwent a physical fitness test as a party of the selection criteria. The selected candidates were enlightened about the objectives of National Cadet Corps and were made aware of its importance in the life of a student. MOTHER’S DAY CELEBRATED AT GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL ,DUGRI.

It was a gala day at Green Land Convent School, Dugri as the whole school was immersed in the hues and colours of the celebration of the spirit of motherhood. The mothers of kindergarten section  were invited along with their wards to set the stage on fire by their immaculate skills . Various competitions like Ramp walk, dances ,fun games and speeches were organized where mothers walked hand in hand with their little ones.  Delicious delicacies were served to the participants . A plethora of activities was organized a day prior for the students of class I to class XII. Activities included Card making for classes I, IV &V, students of class II staged a Play reflecting the importance of mothers ,students of class III  took part in Fancy-dress competition. Flower Arrangement  competition was organized for classes IX-XII. Certificates were provided to the winners by the school Principal. A movie highlighting the Importance of Mothers was also shown to the students.

Mr. Shabad Rudhra ,President Chain of Green Land Schools congratulated the mothers on the special day and conveyed his best wishes  and regards as they  are performing the toughest  and most enjoyable task of raising their children. Ms. Gurpreet Kaur, the school Principal in her address Said that Mothers are multi-taskers and they perform every role in the best possible way . She also advised them to motivate their children so that they can harness their potential to the maximum.

 

Mask Party at (GLCS), Dugri

A Mask Party was organized by the Kindergarten wing of the school to welcome the new comers in the school. An air of festivity filled the entire Kindergarten wing and the tiny tots could be seen in a jubiliant mood. The boys came dressed up in blue and the girls were attired in pink. Their costumes were supported by a variety of masks which made them almost unrecognizable. The tiny rock stars danced to the tunes popular Bollywood numbers. They relished a variety of homemade dishes with their friends and were completely in a party mood.

The Chairman, Chain of Green Land Schools Mr. Rajesh Rudhra, conveyed his best wishes and showered his blessings on the tiny–tots toddlers for the commencement of a new journey. The School Principal, Mrs. Gurpreet Kaur heartily welcomed the kids and participated in the gaiety to motivate them.

 

Earth Day (GLCS), Dugri

A plethora of activities was organized to mark the celebration of World Earth Day in Green Land Convent School, Dugri. The students were made aware of the importance of saving the ‘Blue Planet’. Students zealously took part in the competitions. A Colouring competition was organized for students of classes II and III, students of class I showed their art by participating in the activity ‘Best out of waste’. They also voiced their opinion through a poetry recitation competition covering various aspects of nature. The little ones did not lag behind as the Kindergarten students reflected their creativity in paper plates highlighting the theme of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

The Chairman, Chain of Green Land Schools Mr. Rajesh Rudhra, wished the students ‘Happy Earth Day’ and enlightened the students about the importance of trees and they are the ‘lungs of the earth’. The Principal, Ms. Gurpreet Kaur highlighted the fact that ‘no generation has a free hold on the Earth’. She also motivated the students to make the environment clean and green.

 

Baisakhi Celebration (GLCS), Dugri

Baisakhi, the harvest festival of Punjab was celebrated in Green Land Convent School, Dugri with great energy, enthusiasm and fervour. An air of celebration and festivity was visible all around. The celebration started with a soulful rendition of ‘Shabad’ by students and teachers. A poetry recitation competition for the students of classes I – VII was held later in the day. The students of classes IV & V prepared beautiful charts reflecting the importance of ‘Punjabi Culture’. The participants were beautifully dressed up in colorful and traditional Punjabi outfits. Their enthusiasm could be seen oozing out in their performances.

It was a celebration of culture, tradition and art. It was a feast for the eyes to watch the modern generation submerged in traditional Punjabi culture. The President, Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra, in his address to the students conveyed his best wishes on the occasion. He also gave an insight into the life and deeds of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, who formed the Khalsa Panth on this auspicious day. He also highlighted the importance and contribution of Punjabi Culture in the modern era. The school Principal conveyed her heartfelt wishes on this auspicious occasion. On the whole, the day was celebrated with grandeur and proved to be another day of joy for the staff and students.

 

Orientation Programme for Parents at Green Land Convent School, Dugri

An Orientation programme for parents was conducted at Green Land Convent School, Dugri by kindergarten sections. The parents were guided and were given latest tips to facilitate learning of their children. Parents were introduced to the motor skills and its relevance for the child’s learning. The easiest methods of recognition and learning of alphabets and numbers were taught to the parents. The teachers made it sure that parents should follow similar techniques of teaching to avoid confusion in the children. Many practical exercise using toys, balls and threads were performed to enhance the learning power of the kids. Parents also actively participated in the discussion and got their queries clarified.

The Director of Green Land Convent School, Dugri, Ms. Vijayata Rudhra presided over the function. She addressed the parents and highlighted the importance of motor skills for the congenial growth of the children. Discussing the motor skills in detail, she emphasized on the use of them for proper physiological growth of the kids. The principal of the school, Ms. Vimmi Thakur also addressed the parents. She welcomed them and sought a full support and co-operation from them for harmonious development of their children. She stressed that parents should update their teaching techniques with the changing phase of education. She also encouraged physical activities of the children to facilitate their academic growth.

 

Martyr’s Day Observed at Green Land Convent School, Dugri

It was a solemn occasion at Green Land Convent School, Dugri as the school observed Martyr’s day on March 23, 2018 to mark the death anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar who laid down their lives to attain India's Independence from the clutches of Britishers. The staff and students of the school observed a two minute silence in the memory of the great martyrs and paid homage by holding prayers to honour the great souls.

On the occasion, The Chairman, Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Rajesh Rudhra  said that the greatness and exemplary courage of these freedom fighters  inspires generations of Indians and they will linger in our hearts now and forever. The President, Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra paid obeisance to the martyrs and exhorted the students to remember the supreme sacrifice made by the trio for their country. The School Principal, Mrs. Vimmi Thakur said that Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru continue to inspire the youth of modern India and everyone should value this freedom we are enjoying because of them.

 

Green Land Convent School, Dugri bids adieu to XII students

Green Land Convent School, Dugri bade an emotional and heart touching farewell “Adios Amigos” to the outgoing batch of Class XII. Students of Class XI dedicated songs, poems and speeches to their seniors. The School Head Girl, Anjali felt nostalgic as she expressed her emotions in her speech about their grooming years at Greenland Convent School. The Chairman, Chain of Green Land Convent Schools, Mr Rajesh Rudra showered his blessings upon the students and gave some practical tips to them to succeed in the exams with flying colours. He urged them to stand true and loyal as proud ambassadors of the institution and their motherland.

The President, Chain of Green Land Convent Schools, Mr Shabad Rudra wished the students good luck for their forthcoming Board exams. He advised them to be prudent in making the right choices and decisions while choosing their future careers.

The School Principal, Mrs Vimmi Thakur exhorted the students to think big and be optimistic in whatever they do in life. She too extended her good wishes to the students for the ensuing Board examinations.  

 

Green Land Convent School, Dugri Celebrates 69th Republic Day

Greenland Convent School, Dugri celebrated the 69th Republic Day of India with great pride and patriotic fervour. The programme commenced with the unfurling of the national flag by Mr. Rajesh Rudhra, Chairman, Chain of Greenland Schools along with Mr. Shabad Rudhra, President of Chain of Green Land Schools.

This was followed by a tribute to the idol of ‘Bharat Mata’ and an impressive march past by the school NCC wing. Everyone present took pride in glorifying and celebrating the spirit of unity. To mark the importance of this day, a grand celebration was held in the school, and the day witnessed a cultural bonanza of activities. The school atmosphere brimmed with a feeling of pride as the children presented dances on the tunes of Rang de Basanti and Koi Kahe and the recital of the national song Vande Matram.

Mr. Rajesh Rudhra in his very inspiring speech sensitized the students about the importance of the freedom that we have got as a result of the supreme sacrifice made by our freedom fighters. He advised them to always be loyal and truthful towards one’s country. Mr. Shabad  Rudhra passionately spoke about as to how the students of today hold the future of their country in their hands and said that Republic Day marks the celebration of Indian culture and its glorious past. The school Principal Ms. Vimmi Thakur also congratulated each and every one on this august occasion and motivated the students to be enlightened citizens of the country.

On this momentous occasion, the school Management also felicitated 26 students who have proved their mettle in academics, sports and Co-curricular activities.

The programme came to an end with an oath of allegiance to the Republic of India and the rendition of the National Anthem.

 

GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI CELEBRATES BASANT PANCHAMI

Green Land Convent School, Dugri, celebrated the auspicious festival of Basant Panchami amidst great religious fervour and festivity on the school premises. The Pre-Primary and Primary classes of the school participated whole heartedly by offering prayers to Goddess Saraswati to seek her divine blessings. The school ambience had brightened up with beautiful yellow flowers, balloons and buntings. The tiny–tots were dressed in yellow attires. A Colouring competition was held and the winners were awarded prizes and certificates. The Primary Section thoroughly enjoyed the day as they participated in large numbers in various traditional games like Hop Skotch, Skipping, Gitte etc. The President, Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra heartily congratulated all on this spring festival. He said that Goddess Saraswati should be paid obeisance by all as she is the one who leads us to essence of self-knowledge. The Director, Green Land Convent School, Dugri, Ms. Vijayata said that this festival signifies happiness and joy and it comes to enlighten up our lives with wisdom. The Principal of the School, Ms. Vimmi Thakur too apprised the students about the importance of this festival and appreciated the efforts put in by the staff and students.

 

GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI CELEBRATES LOHRI FETE WITH GAEITY

The school campus of Green Land Convent School, Dugri was transformed into a mini carnival as the festival of Lohri was celebrated in the school on January 10, 2018 with great fervor. Decorated in vibrant hues of confetti and kites, the school had an ambience of joy and happiness all around. The tiny tots in their traditional Punjabi dresses reflected the joy and pride for their culture.

It was an ideal day for fun and frolic as the school housed various food and an array of exciting game stalls. The mouthwatering food stalls such as Gol Gappe, Pav-bhaji, Bhel Puri, and Stuffed Kulcha were a hit among the students. The tiny tots loved the fun games such as Feed the Demon, Angry Birds and Hit the Bull’s Eye. To entertain the grown-ups there were much loved computer games, Pencil sketches from live Photographs and short movie shows. The school orchestra and the music stall amplified the level of entertainment among all present. In addition, the Nail Art and Tattoo stall attracted the students in a large number. The symbolic holy bonfire was lit and the warmth was enjoyed by everybody amidst prayers for peace and prosperity of the nation.

The President, Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra extended his felicitations to the students and teachers. In his message he said that this kind of exposure develops marketing skills in students. He also said that Lohri is a festival which teaches people to be thankful for God’s abundant blessings and to celebrate his creations. The Director of the school Mrs. Vijayata in her message informed the students about the importance of Lohri Fire. She also conveyed her best wishes to the students and staff on Lohri. The school Principal, Ms.Vimmi Thakur congratulated everyone on this festive occasion and also motivated them to stay rooted to their culture.

GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL DUGRI CELEBRATES ITS 10th ANNUAL PRIZE DISTRIBUTION FUNCTION

The 10th Annual Prize Distribution Function of Green Land Convent School, Dugri was celebrated on 23rd Dec., 2017 with great zeal and fervour in the school premises. The cultural extravaganza under the theme “Parwaaz- Ek Udaan” brought out the need of empowering the women in our society by ensuring equal status to them in all areas.

The Chief Guest  for the evening was Dr. Sachin Gupta ACP North, Ludhiana who was given a warm welcome with a bouquet of flowers by the Chairman of  the  Chain of  Green Land Schools, Sh. Rajesh Rudhra, President, Sh. Shabad Rudhra, General Secretary, Smt. Usha Rudhra, Director of Green  Land Convent School, Dr. Vijayata, Principal of the host school Mrs. Vimmi  Thakur, Principals of all Green Land Schools, Mrs. Baldeep Pandher, Mrs. Vinita Sanan, Mrs. Jyoti Pujara, Mrs. Ravinder Kaur, Vice Principals of various branches of Green Land, Mr  and Mr. Ravi Kalra & Dr. Narinder Dhand, Members of the School Managing  Committee and Mr. Vijay Danav, Chairman Dalit Vikas Board.

The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the Hon’ble Chief Guest Dr. Sachin Gupta (ACP) escorted by the Chairman, Principal and other dignitaries. The school choir regaled the audience by their soulful rendition of Sufi singing on the beats of the school orchestra.
It was followed by a scintillating dance performance “Dil Hai Chota Sa” by the Kindergarten students.

The school Principal, Mrs. Vimmi Thakur welcomed the eminent guests and introduced the Hon’ble Chief Guest to the gathering. The audience witnessed a power packed dance recital with an invocation to “Maa Kali” an embodiment of Shakti, the raw power of feminine energy, the source of creative expression in the world. The evening became more vivid and lively with the little butterflies from the primary section danced to the tune of “Aawara Bhanware…” The School Head Girl Anjali read out the School’s Annual Report of the past session highlighting the chief achievements, events and progress of the school.

This entailed another dance composition “Parwaaz-Ek Udaan” a marvel of intricate movements showcasing the evening’s theme “Women Empowerment”. The play “Mitti Ke Rishte” poignantly touched every heart as the act brought out the selfishness and insensitivity of children towards their old age parents in this materialistic world. This was followed by a foot tapping dance on the iconic Sufi song “Jugni”.

The President of Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra in his addresss stated that women play a pivotal role in the all-round development of  the society. Women are increasingly getting empowered to decide the course of their life and professions and realise their fullest potential. He further said that women are symbols of empathy and love but in today’s era, women need to take up the strength and role of Maa Durga to destroy the evils.

The acting talent and flair of the students was seen through the Punjabi Skit “4D” with a strong message of how social media has distanced relationships which was greatly appreciated and applauded by the guests.

The Chairman of the school Mr. Rajesh Rudhra in his speech exhorted the students to hone and sharpen their talents and potentials to not only carve a niche for themselves but also aim to bring glory to their state as well as their nation. He blessed the tiny tots who start their journey of education with schooling and leave the school as confident, virtuous and responsible citizens of the country. He also laid emphasis on the vital role of parents in a child’s life and as to how good parental support helps a child to be positive, healthy and good life long learner.

In his speech, the Chief Guest stated that he was very happy to witness the remarkable achievements of Green Land Convent School and how the school has reached enviable heights within a decade. The achievements already made by the school, are testimony to the vision of its Founders, and are a clear indicator of what they are heading for.

The function culminated with much awaited prize distribution ceremony wherein the worthy Chief Guest Dr. Sachin Gupta gave away the trophies to the academically meritorious students and talented artists. The Chief Guest and the dignitaries were presented mementos by the Chairman and President.

The senior students performing Bhangra attired in traditional bright attires danced to the pulsating rhythm of the Dhol with tremendous energy and exuberance bringing out the true spirit of Punjab and its culture.

The evening came to an end with the singing of the National Anthem.

 

Ludhiana Sahodaya School Complex Drawing Competition 2017-18

Under the aegis of LSSC, a drawing & colouring competition for classes I to VIII was organized at Green Land Convent School, Dugri, students from 14 schools participated under three categories and displayed their creative and artistic skills. After a formal welcome by the Principal, the school choir sang a serene Shabad and the contest started.

Mr. Shabad Rudhra, President, Chain of Green Land Schools was the Chief Guest. He was highly elated to witness the budding talents showcasing their art on the canvas. He encouraged the participants to allot a specific time slot to their interest in their daily time-table. He heartily congratulated the winners and the participants.

Dr. Vijayata, Director of Green Land Convent School, applauded the students and their efforts in the activity. She emphasized the importance of motivation and inspiration in enabling this creative talent to bloom to the fullest and the role of such competitions.

Ms. Vimmi Thakur, Principal, appreciated their colourful artistic work and urged the students to always keep these colours alive in their life.

  • The Third Prize went to Skandh Garg from K.V.M. School.
  • Consolation prize was given to Gunvir Kaur from Guru Gobind Singh Public School.

Category C – (VI to VIII Class)

  • The First Prize was bagged by Niranjan S. Yadav from Green Land Convent School, Sec. 32, Chandigarh Road.
  • The Second Prize went to Jaya Arora form Green Land Convent School, Civil City.
  • The Third Prize went to Sidak from Baba Isher Singh Public School.
  • Consolation prize was given to Eshnika from K.V.M. School.
  • Overall Trophy was won by Green Land Convent School, Civil City.
  • Runner up Trophy was won by K.V.M. School.
  • The function ended with a scintillating and colourful dance presented by the  tiny tots and the distribution of trophies and certificates.

 

INTER SCHOOL BABY SHOW, COLOURING & SPORTS FIESTA ORGANIZED AT GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI

An Inter School Baby Show, Colouring and Sports Fiesta was organised at Green Land Convent School, Dugri in which more than 200 tiny tots from different play schools participated with great zeal and enthusiasm.

The Occasion was presided over by the Chairman, Chain of Green Land School, Mr. Rajesh Rudhra and the General Secretary of the trust Mrs. Usha Rudhra. They were accorded a warm floral welcome by President, Chain of Green Land School, Mr. Shabad Rudhra and the Principal of the school, Ms. Vimmi Thakur. Principals of all play schools in the vicinity were specially invited.

A sports meet and colouring fiesta was organized to channelize the creative skills among the little ones under the age group of 2.5 to 4.5 years. The young ones amazed everyone by painting the canvas with the vibrant colours of imagination. The tiny athletes did not lag behind in any way and took part in various sporting events like Ball Race, Hop Race, Back Race and Hurdle Race. Various stalls of games like Feed the Clown, Bow and Arrow, Luck by Chance & Ring the toss were specially set up the school staff which multiplied the excitement of the kids.

The special attraction of the fiesta was ‘Mom & Me’ Ramp Walk where the little models shared the ramp with their talented mothers. It was enthralling to watch the ‘Super ravishing moms’ setting the stage ablaze hand in hand with their stunning babies. The event proved to be a great platform to come together and share their love.

The Chairman, Mr. Rajesh Rudhra extolled the efforts of Principals and staff of the play schools in preparing and nurturing their tiny tots diligently with love and affection. Mr. Shabad Rudhra, President, Chain of Green Land Schools congratulated and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the invitees for their exuberant participation in the event. Ms. Vijayata, Director of the school highlighted the rising expectation from children in the changing scenario of education and the importance of such events in bringing out the talent of the kids. The Principal of the school, Ms. Vimmi Thakur thanked all the dignitaries and the guests for their support and co-operation in making the event a great success.

The programme concluded with the Prize Distribution ceremony. Various titles were also awarded to the tiny tots and the mothers. Titles included ‘The Most Attractive Baby’, ‘Showstopper Baby’, ‘The Most Groomed Baby’, etc. The mothers competed for different categories like ‘Super Mom’, ‘Unique Mom’ and ‘Wonderful Mom’.

Children’s Day celebrated in Green Land Convent School, Dugri

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s birth anniversary was celebrated as Children’s Day in Green Land Convent School, Dugri. Many activities and competitions were conducted to mark this special day. Everyone enthusiastically participated in these thought provoking and entertaining activities. The tiny tots were looking so adorable in colourful clothes. Many sports activities were organized for I to III class students. Teachers also participated with them. Activities like poem recitation, story telling, speech were organized for the students of classes IV to V. Students of Classes VI to VIII participated in poster making. Beautiful posters were made by them on childrens day. Documentaries on the life history and achievements of various Indian leaders like Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, Subash Chander Bose, Vallabh Bhai Patel and Mahatma Gandhi were shown to the students.

The Chairman, Chain of Green Land Schools Mr. Rajesh Rudhra congratulated the students on this occasion. The President, Chain of Green Land Schools Mr. Shabad Rudhra said that children are the real asset of the nation. Their safety, security, physical and moral development should be the top priority of the educationists. The Director of the school, Ms. Vijayata also greeted the children on this day. GURPURAB CELEBRATED IN GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI

Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Prakash Utsav was celebrated with religious sanctity and serenity in Green Land Convent School, Dugri. Students and Staff participated with fervour and gaiety in the holy celebrations. The function started with the soulful Shabad Gayan by the school choir ‘Satguru Nanak Pargatya’ which describes the journey of the world towards the light of wisdom. The students recited poems and gave speeches portraying the life history of Guru Nank Dev Ji, his teachings and tenets of universal brotherhood.

The Chairman, Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Rajesh Rudhra conveyed his best wishes on the occasion and expressed his staunch belief in the principles laid by Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The President, Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra congratulated everyone on this pious occasion. He explained the meaning of ‘Gurbani’ and said that God is one and He resides in everyone’s heart. Each and everyone should hear the inner voice of self, as it is the voice of God. Ms. Vijayata, Director of Green Land Convent School, bestowed her best wishes and advised the students to follow the path of Guru Nank Dev Ji, which was full of compassion and love for each other. DIWALI CELEBRATIONS IN GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL

In the spirit of Diwali Celebrations an array of activities for students from Class Nursery to X were organized in Greenland Convent School, Dugri. It was mass participation of the students. Creativity and energy was visible everywhere. The school campus which was traditionally decorated with diyas, flowers, buntings, etc. The whole school reverberated with energy and enthusiasm. The tiny tots of class Nursery took part in ‘Thali Decoration’. The Kids of class K.G participated in the activity ‘Cooking without fire’ and learned to conducted make ‘Coconut Ladoos’, the activity was conducted to inculcate a love for ‘Home made sweets’. A colourful rally was conducted by the students of class I on the theme ‘Say No to Crackers’. A play on the theme ‘Green Diwali’ was enacted by the students of class II Diya and Candle Making activity was organised for class III to VI. Beautiful Torans were made by the students of class VII & VIII. A Rangoli making competition was organised for the students of class IX and X.
Mr. Rajesh Rudhra, Chairman, Chain of Green Land Schools appreciated the efforts of the students. He said the purpose of education is not only to develop the required knowledge but to develop the capacity and mindset of creation and possibilities. He wished all a Happy and Safe Diwali. Mr. Shabad Rudhra, President, Chain of Green Land Convent School, encouraged the students to participate more and more in such activities and said in order to enhance creativity and unleash the hidden potential in the students, such activities work wonders. GANDHI JAYANTI CELEBRATIONS

The birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation “Mahatma Gandhi” was celebrated in a solemn function in Green Land Convent School, Dugri. The prayer of all religions were recited to invoke peace and harmony all around. The school choir rendered the bhajan ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’ which was the favourite bhajan of Gandhi Ji. The students presented speeches, poems and skits on the life and principle of Mahatma Gandhi.
The Birth Anniversary of the greatest freedom fighter and Prime Minister of India Lal Bahadur Shastri was also celebrated by paying rich tributes to this simple man who gave a great slogan to the nation ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’.
The President, Chain of Green Land Schools Mr. Shabad Rudhra, Director of Green Land Convent School, Dugri, Ms. Vijayata and Principal Ms. Vimmi Thakur paid floral tributes to the Father of the Nation. In his address, Mr. Shabad Rudhra said that Gandhi Ji was an epitome of peace, sacrifice and truth. Each and every child can learn so much from his life and inculcate his morals and values in his life which will lead to path of success.
Ms. Vimmi Thakur, called Mahatma Gandhi, an ideal in the field of education and his revolutionary ideas stimulates the spiritual, intellectual and overall development of a human being.

BAGS SECOND POSITION IN STATE LEVEL CHESS TOURNAMENT

Students of Green Land Convent School, Dugri have brought laurels to the school by bagging 2nd Position in U-14 & U-17 Category State Level Chess Tournament held at Sarvhitkari Senior Secondary School, Barnala. Vineet Bhola and Anmol Singh in U-14 (Boys) Category and Ujwal Bhasin and Tanvir Singh of U-17(Boys) Category added another feather to the Cap of school. Student were honoured by Madam Rajwant Kaur, Dirstrict Education Officer, Barnala.

TAX AWARENESS DRIVE HELD AT GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI

The Income Tax Department, Ludhiana has organized a Mass Tax Awareness Drive, which is going to be the largest ever Tax Awareness Programme in the country. This informative and thought provoking session was held at Green Land Convent School, Dugri, today. Sh. Arvinder Singh, IRS, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, Range-3, Ludhiana was the honourable Chief Guest, who was accorded a ceremonial welcome with a Guard of Honour given by NCC Cadets of the school. He was accompanied by Sh. Hari Narayan, Inspector, Income Tax and Ms. Priya Gabba, DEO.
He planted the ceremonial Apnakar trees, together with the dignitaries, President Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra, Principal Ms. Vimmi Thakur, Staff and Students. Mr. Shabad Rudhra welcomed the Chief Guest with a bouquet of flowers. The Chief Guest addressed the students in the Special Assembly. He said for the overall development of the country, good infrastructure, defence, education, health, etc.
we should pay our taxes with sincerity and timely. There are various bright and prestigious job opportunities in the Income Tax Department. Students are the future of the nation, hence they should take a pledge to pay their taxes honestly and motivate others to do so. Mr. Shabad Rudhra said the aim of this Programme is to spread tax awareness amongst the future tax payers and to inculcate the culture of taxation.
It was the prime duty of every citizen of our country to pay their taxes in a rightful manner. A Tax Pledge was also taken wherein the dignitaries, staff & students enthusiastically participated. The Chief Guest was presented with a memento by the President and Principal. The function ended with the National Anthem.

GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI SHINE IN DISTRICT TAEKWONDO TOURNAMENT

The taekwondo champs of Green Land Convent School, Dugri made the school proud by emerging as winners in Punjab Board District Taekwondo Tournament held at Govt. Senior Secondary School, Bharat Nagar, Ludhiana. The tournament was from 4h Sept. to 7th Sept., 2017. In U-14 Category (Boys) Shivpreet Singh bagged the God Medal, Vikas Kumar got the Silver Medal and Karsimran Singh got the Bronze Medal. They swept away all the Medals in their favour with their energy and enthusiasm.
In U-14 Category (Girls) Jasleen Kaur won the Silver Medal and Yashika got the Bronze Medal. In U-19 Category (Girls) Diksha Kochar won the Bronze Medal.

He said that such competitions are a stepping stone to future success and this tremendous achievement depends on determination and hard work. CHESS CHAMPS OF GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI SHINE IN DISTRICT CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP

The brilliant chess players of Green Land Convent School, Dugri have brought great laurels to the school by winning the Gold Medal in U-14 category (Girls) in Punjab District Chess Championship Tournament held at Govt. Senior Secondary School, Mundian Kalan on 5th & 6th Sept., 2017. Aditi Rawat, Laksh Kaur, Parneet Kaur and Ridhima are the proud possessors of the winner’s trophy. In U-17 category (Girls) Silver Medal was bagged by Mehak, Arka, Chehak and Amber. In U-14 category(boys) Arpit,Vaneet, Anmol and Prabhpuneet bagged the First position and got Gold Medal. In U-17 category(boys) Tanveer, Naman, Ujjwal and Gurvir bagged First position by winning the Gold Medal.

Independence Day & Krishan Janamashtmi Celebrations at GLCS, Dugri

It was a day of festivities, nationalism & religious sentiments at Green Land Convent School, Dugri. 71st Independence Day was celebrated with great energy and patriotic fervor. There was an air of patriotic and nationalistic sentiments which infused a sense of unity and brotherhood all around the school campus which was beautifully adorned with orange, white and green balloons, small Tirangas, buntings, fresh flowers, etc.
The Chairman, Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Rajesh Rudhra presided over the function. He hoisted the ‘Tiranga’ along with the President, Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra, General Secretary, Ms. Usha Rudhra, Director of the School, Ms. Vijayata, Principal, Ms. Vimmi Thakur, staff and students. He took the Guard of Honour of the NCC Cadets and paid floral tributes to Bharat Mata. It was followed by a cultural bonanza including dance numbers, patriotic songs, poems, skit, oath taking ceremony and speeches. Together with the Independence Day, Shri Krishan Janamashtmi was also celebrated with religious devotion and festive spirit. The start of the function took place with the traditional breaking of ‘Dahi Matki’, ‘Ladoo Gopal Snan’, and ‘Aarti gayan’ together with the chanting of ‘Shlokas’. All the staff members and students took part in the pious rituals which were performed by the honourable dignitaries. The ‘Little Nandlala’ was rocked in the cradle bedecked with flowers. All the four houses of the school, Kirti, Jyoti, Jagriti and Shakti prepared breathtakingly beautiful Jhankis depicting the life and times of Shri Krishna. Little angels were dressed as Gopis and Gawalas.
Mr Rajesh Rudhra congratulated the audience on the auspicious occasion of Independence Day and Shri Krishan Janamashtmi. He said Independence Day signifies a feeling of pride, valour, oneness and patriotism. On this day, India became free from the shackles of British Raj, after leading a life of slavery for more than 200 years. So we should value our freedom and be loyal and love our country. Each one of us should strive to bring development and cleanliness in our country and protect it from terrorism and aggression.
Further, on the occasion of Janamashtmi he reiterated that such functions infuse a sense of rituals, tradition and devotion in the students. He said one should perform one’s duty diligently but don’t expect the fruits of your actions immediately as God takes care of it Himself. Mr. Shabad Rudhara conveyed his best wishes on this glorious day to all and said that children of India should be bold, truthful, loyal and fearless. They should serve their motherland in spirit and letter. He shared many instances from Shri Krishna’s life and urged the students to follow the path of truth, kindness and humility. Ms. Vijayata advised the students to always highten the standard of the Tiranga and believe in oneself, irrespective of class, colour or creed. She said that ‘Karam’ and ‘Dharam’ are the two philosophies of life which everyone should adopt to lead a peaceful and successful life. Ms. Vimmi Thakur said that we all should always feel proud to be Indians as India is a land of righteousness, morality, culture, values and traditions. She encouraged the students to follow the path of non-violence and honesty. She applauded the efforts of the teachers and students and congratulated all on the pious occasion of Janamashtmi. She emphasized that the students should focus on good deeds and help each other. She added we should surrender ourselves completely to the will of the Almighty and leave our pride.
The solemn function ended with the National Anthem whose echo reverberated all around. After that Prasad was distributed to the staff and students.

TEEJ CELEBRATIONS AT GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI

Green Land Convent School, Dugri celebrated Teej in Kindergarten Section. They celebrated it with great fervor. The whole Kindergarten block was decorated to present an authentic Punjabi Cultural look. The tiny tots from junior classes were dressed in traditional attire complete with ornaments and accessories to celebrate the occasion. The function included dance performances and energetic giddha and bhangra. Solo Dance competition was organized and the enthusiastic participants were cheered and applauded by all. The theme of the competition was traditional Punjabi dances. Saawan King and Saawan Queen were selected and honoured, Tags were given to the Best Gabru, Best Mutiyaar, Best Dressed Boy/Girl, etc. Little champs performed very well on traditional dances. The kids were also introduced to ‘Phulkari’.
The President, Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra presided over the function and said that this festival is a glimpse of our rich cultural heritage, which seems to be taking a back seat these days. But by celebrating such festivals, students get to imbibe the cultural and traditional values of Punjab. The function concluded with delightful feast of Malpuas, Kheer and the kids enjoy the cuisine of Punjab.

Rakhi Making Cometition held at GLCS, Dugri

Rakhi and Card making competition was held at Green Land Convent School, Dugri to celebrate the festival of bond between brother and sister. The students of class I to V participated with great zeal and fervor. They were given an opportunity to explore their hidden abilities and to exhibit their talent. The outcome of their efforts was wonderful. Students made marvelous Rakhis and beautiful cards.
The President, Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra appreciated the endeavor of the children and told them the importance of such festivals. He further added that the ultimate goal of the school is to make the students creative and artistic along with other academic skills.

WRESTLING CHAMP OF GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI

Sanjeed Singh, a meritorious student of Green Land Convent School, Dugri has made the school proud and brought great laurels to the school by winning the First position in wrestling in U-19 Category of 74 Kg weight in the Punjab Zonal Level Tournament 2017-18 held at Sacred Soul Convent School, Dhandra, Ludhiana on 10th August, 2017.
Mr. Shabad Rudhra, President, Chain of Green Land Schools heartily congratulated the proud winner and said that wrestling is the oldest martial art and is a physical competition between two competitors which requires great physical strength and stamina. He added that it was a great opportunity for other students to take inspiration and motivation to play competitive sports which are challenging and skilful.
He encouraged him to reach far greater heights as he had been consistently winning medals and doing hardwork and practice for last many years.

High School, Delon Kalan on 1st & 2nd August, 2017. The Players of U-14 category & U-19 Category left no stone unturned during practice to make their dreams come true. In his message he said, the traditional games like Kabbadi are the real test of one’s stamina and strength. VANMAHOTSAV CELEBRATED IN GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL DUGRI, LUDHIANA

Vanmahotsav was celebrated with great energy and enthusiasm in Green Land Convent School, Dugri today. There was an air of excitement all around the campus. An array of activities were conducted to mark the occasion. Activities like Poster Making for the students of classes 6th and 7th, Slogan writing for the students of classes 8th and 9th and Planting of Saplings was done by the students of classes 11th and 12th. Students planted Saplings and seeds of different flowers and fruits in and around the school campus.They pledged to keep the environment neat, clean and healthy.
In this plantation drive, the President, Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra, Director, Ms. Vijayata, Principal Ms. Vimmi Thakur and teachers also took part. Mr. Shabad Rudhra gave various tips to the students on how to safeguard and protect the environment, which is the greatest need of the hour. He encouraged the students to plant as many saplings as they can in the vicinity of their area. Ms. Vijayata gave the slogan ‘Each One Plant One’ so as to make the environment green and pollution free. The Principal advised the students to create a healthy, clean and green atmosphere, so that we all can live in the lap of nature.

GREEN LAND INTER SCHOOLS SUFI SINGING COMPETITION

An Inter Schools Sufi Singing Competition in commemoration of Late President Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalamwas held today in theSh. Ram LabhayaRudhra Auditorium at Green Land Sr. Sec. Public School, Ludhiana. The five branches of Green Land Schools participated in this soulful and serene contest. There were two Categories, Category – A (VI-VIII) and Category – B (IX – XII) with 5 singing stars each in the respective category. The mesmerizing rendition of the Sufi songs transported the viewers to a heavenly stupor and the whole auditorium reverberated with the mellifluous compositions and singing.
The function commenced with the ceremonial lamp lighting by the Chairman, Chain of Green Land Schools, Sh. Rajesh Rudhra, General Secretary, Smt. UshaRudhra, President, Mr. ShabadRudhra, Director Ms. Vijayata, Principals of Green Land Schools, Ms. BaldeepPandher, Ms. VanitaSanan, Ms.JyotiPujara and Ms. Vimmi Thakur.

SUMMER CAMP AT GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL DUGRI

A summer camp was conducted at Green Land Convent School, Dugri for the students. It was an energizing, enthusiastic and enriching experience for about 200 students who participated in various activities like skating, basketball, chess, taekwondo, yoga, dance, music, art & craft, computer, gymnastics, etc., which were taught by experts. The summer camp was a great introduction to the fun, frolic and fiesta for the keen learners who heartily participated in the intensive as well as lively outdoor activities, aimed at improving well-being, learning and mastering new skills.
Mr. Shabad Rudhra, President, Chain of Green Land Schools showed a great interest in the performance and participation of the students. He addressed the campers and said in our day camp, kids are in a safe environment with nurturing and guiding adults, where they feel welcome, develop character and explore new talents and interests to reach their potential.
Ms. Vijayata, Director of the school, applauded the students on their zeal and zest and said, we wanted to ensure that kids in our camp, go home with so much excitement for all they have accomplished and enjoyed, that they can’t wait to come back the next day. These activities focus on impacting the social – emotional, cognitive and physical development of all kids.
Ms. Vimmi Thakur, the principal of the school congratulated the students and the experts on the successful completion of the camp which offered a positive, wholesome and caring environment for the children. He attended the Combined Annual Training Camp – 82, organized by 2 Punjab (Indep) Coy NCC, Abohar, at Malout. The camp was from 21st May to 30th May. His special achievement was in the Inter Bn Shooting Competition and now he has been selected to attend next level camp for shooting. His conduct during the camp was exemplary.

APTITUDE TEST CONDUCTED IN GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI

An Online Personality Development and Aptitude Test was conducted for classes 9th to 11th in Green Land Convent School, Dugri today. This thought provoking and enlightening test was organized by Brain Pundits which consisted of 80 situation based questions to be completed in 40 minutes by the students which was a brain storming session for them. This test was conducted for clearing any sort of confusion, a student might face while opting for their career and it was first of its kind, which will make the career counselling of students pursuing higher studies or vocational education, easier and understanding where their forte lies.

SELECTION OF NCC CADETS IN GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI

The selection of students for their registration as NCC Cadets for the session 2017-18 was done in Green Land Convent School, Dugri today in an impressive function. The selection ceremony was conducted under the able command of Col. Harmanjit Singh (Sena Medal), SubedarJagmohan Singh and SubedarSurjit Singh together with ANO/Caretaker Karamjit Singh. The solemn function was conducted on free and fair trials of the students, where the parameters of selection were fitness, alertness, physical strength and viva. The Chief dignitaries threw light on the importance of self-discipline, regularity and principles in life. Twenty eight deserving and capable students were enrolled in 3Pb Battalion, NCC, Ludhiana.

FRUIT DAY CELEBRATED AT GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI

It was a day with a difference for the little ones of Green Land Convent School, Dugri when they celebrated ‘Fruit Day’ today. The fun-filled programme was part of a novel method of familiarizing the Kindergarten children with different kinds of fruits and more importantly, making them understand the essence of fruits in our regular diet. With the slogan, ‘Sunday hoya Monday, Roz manao Fruit Day’, teachers advised the children to eat more fruits daily and the mportance of its intake for physical and mental growth. Each and every student brought variety of fruits that was first displayed and then cut to make a delicious fruit salad that was offered to the children. The tiny tots were quite fascinated and thrilled to see the various fruits which were cut in unique and awesome shapes and sizes which were presented in decorative baskets, trays, etc. The Principal of the school, Ms. Vimmi Thakur actively participated in this programme and congratulated the kids, their parents and the teachers at this excellent display of creativity and skill.

MOTHER’S DAY CELEBRATED AT GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI

Green Land Convent School, Dugri celebrated Mother’s Day today with great exuberance and energy. The primary students exhibited their love, regard and gratitude for their mothers in the form of poems, speeches, dance and drama. They conveyed their good wishes and marked Mother’s Day with a fun filled programme in which the importance of a mother in a child’s life was reiterated. All the mesmerizing performances were dedicated to mothers and everyone lauded them. The tiny tots of Kindergarten made beautiful photo frames of their own photographs with their mothers and presented it to them as a token of their love and regard. They enjoyed with their mothers with fun and frolic.
Mr. ShabadRudhra, President of Green Land Schools appreciated the performance of the children and said that as God could not be present everywhere hence he made mothers. He advised the students to always love, respect and obey their mothers and the selfless love of a mother surpasses everything. The Director of the school, Ms. Vijayata, presented a valuable speech and said that it was a beautiful way in which the students conveyed their immense love and reverence for their mother. She added that no other relationship can be equivalent to a mother and child bond. INVESTITURE CEREMONY IN GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI

An impressive Investiture Ceremony of Green Land Convent School, Dugri today marked a significant beginning of the new academic year. It was a solemn occasion where the young torch bearers were all prepared to don the mantle of leadership and discharge the responsibilities entrusted upon them by the school. The members of the Student Council took the oath of office with firm resolution and determination. After the formal oath taking ceremony, Mr. Shabad Rudhra, President, Chain of Green Land Schools graced the function. He presented badges and sashes to the deserving students. He said that to inculcate the leadership qualities in the students and to give them a sense of responsibility the new Student Council is formed every year. The deserving young talents of the school bestowed with the responsibility of leading their school from the front with their commitment, confidence and competence. The Director of the school, Mrs. Vijayata, felicitated the school council and she encouraged the students to always remember that leadership comes with integrity and diligence. RED DAY CELEBRATED IN GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI

The premises of Kindergarten section of Green Land Convent School, Dugri reverberated with the Red Day celebrations which was aptly decorated with red balloons, hangings, buntings, etc. depicting the joviality and brightness. The day started with colour red everywhere and with singing Red Day Song ‘My Red Balloon……….…’. All the angels came dressed up beautifully in red dresses and brought red coloured eatables and objects for show and tell. The shining stars were introduced to the colour red with a large display of things like cherries, apples, blocks, toys etc. Lots of activities were also conducted. The Principal of the school, Ms. Vimmi Thakur, participated in the fun and frolic with the tiny tots and said ‘the best colour in the whole world is the one that looks good on you’. She added, the colour red symbolises love, life and laughter. A lovely red day passed with gaiety and amusement.

World Earth Day celebrated in Green Land Convent School, Ph-II,Dugri

22nd April, 2017 was observed as the World Earth Day at Green Land Convent School,Phase-II Dugri with fervour and enthusiasm. Various activities and competitions were conducted to mark this event. The students presented information regarding the history and observance of this day in the form of speeches and poems during morning assembly. To create the awareness among the students of Class I, an activity on ‘Best out of Waste’ and a ‘Colouring Competition’for students of classes II to V was organized. The students of classes VI to VII followed the theme of ‘Go Green’ and ‘Poster Making Competition was held. ‘Slogan Writing Competition’ was conducted for classes VIII and IX. The students participated with great zest and zeal.
On this occasion the President, Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. ShabadRudhra wished the students ‘Happy Earth Day’ and he enlightened the students that the trees are the ‘life supporting systems’ and the ‘lungs of the earth’, hence it is the duty of each and every one to plant and protect the trees. The Directorof Green Land Convent School, Ms. Vijayataurged the students to conserve the natural resources and not to waste them. The Principal of the School, Ms. Vimmi Thakur advised the students not to use the poly bags and try to reduce pollution and make the environment clean and green.

COLOURFUL BALLOON PARTY AT GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI

The Kindergarten Section of Green Land Convent School, Dugri wore an air of festivity, fun and frolic today. The blooming birds came all dressed up in their best attires with bright, shining faces to attend a colourful balloon party organized by the school to welcome them. They enjoyed to the hilt with song, dance, music and games. They had a tasty treat of delectable snacks. The aim of the party was to familiarize the little ones with the school and the teachers.

BAISAKHI CELEBRATION IN GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI

Baisakhi the harvest festival of Punjab was celebrated in Green Land Convent School, Dugri with great energy, enthusiasm and fervour. An air of celebration and festivity was visible all around. A special assembly was conducted to mark the occasion and students were made aware of the importance of the day. An inter-house Solo Song competition was held later in the day. The participants were beautifully dressed up in traditional Punjabi attire, with turbans, suits, parandas, jooties and splendid finery etc. Their enthusiasm could be seen oozing out in the performances. The audience was spell bound and mesmerized by their melodious voices.
It was a celebration of culture, tradition and art. It was a feast for the eyes to watch the modern generation submerged in traditional Punjabi culture. The luminaries who adorned the function were Mr. ShabadRudhra, President, Chain of Green Land Schools,Director, Ms. VijayataRudhra, Principal, Ms. Vimmi Thakur and the staff. Birth Anniversary of Param Sant Kirpal Singh Ji Maharaj Celebrated at Green Land Convent School, Dugri

The birth anniversary of Param Sant Kirpal Singh Ji Maharaj was celebrated amidst divine fervor, spiritual sanctity & festivity in Green Land Convent School, Dugri today. Staff and students participated whole heartedly in the holy celebrations. The auspicious function started with the lighting of the lamp at Satguru Ji’s portrait and floral tribute was paid to him. To invoke the blessings of the Satguru, soulful and mesmerizing Shabad Gayan was presented by the school choir which conveyed the message of Guruji, of love, respect and oneness. The students were given an insight into the life and times of Satguru Ji by the teachers and his spiritual ideals were explained to them.
On this occasion, The President, Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra said that Sant Kirpal Singh Ji Maharaj was a great saint and a supreme teacher who had dedicated his whole life to the service of mankind, who was a savior of the poor and needy. He added that we should follow his footsteps and create an environment of peace and unity.

BASANT PANCHAMI CELEBRATED IN GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI

BasantPanchami is the day which marks the end of winter and start of spring. This auspicious day marks the birth of Goddess Saraswati, the Goddess of Knowledge and Wisdom and was celebrated amidst religious sanctity, festivity and devotion in Green Land Convent School, Dugri, today. The Pre-Primary and Primary classes of the school participated whole heartedly in the function. The tiny – tots offered prayers to the magnificent idol of Goddess Saraswati. The school was decorated with yellow buntings, flowers and balloons. The tiny – tots were dressed in yellow attires. A Do-it-yourself activity was conducted where the pre-primary students prepared delicious Bhel-Puri and Soup. The Primary section enjoyed the day with mass participation in various traditional games like hop skotch, skipping, gitte etc. The President, Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. ShabadRudhra heartily congratulated all on this spring festival. He said that Goddess Saraswati should be paid obeisance by all as she is the one who leads to essence of self-knowledge. This festival is deeply related to our cultural heritage in India and is a fusion of colours, aesthetics and artistic flavours put together. Republic Day Celebrations in Green Land Convent School, Dugri

68th Republic Day was celebrated with great patriotic fervour in Green Land Convent School, Dugri. The school was adorned in a tricolour decoration. A cultural bonanza was organised on this occasion. A mesmerizing dance item was presented to depict the nationalistic spirit which enthralled everyone. Patriotic Group Songs and Poems were presented by the students with a great feeling of Nationalism.
The ceremony of flag hoisting ‘The Tiranga’was performed bythe President, Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr.ShabadRudhra,and he paid floral tributes to the image of ‘Bharat Mata’. He acknowledged the salute of NCC Cadets. In his message,Mr.ShabadRudhra congratulated the students on this occasionand said that India is the largest democracy and the real credit holders for making India a Republic was our first Drafting Committee headed by Mr. B.R Ambedkar. He saluted these Pillars of Constitution and the Freedom Fighters. He added that we are lucky to breathe in Free India and it is our duty to safeguard our country and bring prosperity everywhere. He advised them to always love and serve their country. The Director of the school,Ms.Vijayata sensitized the students about the sovereign, integral, secular and republic structure of India and encouraged them to maintain the sanctity and decorum of Democracy by becoming responsible citizens of India. GREEN LAND INTER SCHOOLS SPORTS MEET AND ANNUAL PRIZE DISTRIBUTION –CLOSING CEREMONY WRAP

Keeping the beacon of peace and integrity alive, the Chain of Green Land Schools rejoiced the closing ceremony on the 3rd day Annual Sports Meet today, at Green Land Sports Stadium, Manj Phagowal, Ludhiana with great gusto. The Chief Guest. Sh. J.K. Jain., Excise and Taxation Commissioner, Ludhiana   was given a cordial floral welcome by the Chairman of Chain of Green Land Schools , Sh. Rajesh Rudhra, President Sh. Shabad Rudhra, Gen. Secretary Smt. Usha Rudhra, Mrs. Vijayata Rudhra  Director of Green Land Convent School, Dugri,  other members of the Management. Principals of the Chain of Green Land Schools – Mrs. Baldeep Pandher, Mrs. Vinita Sanan, Mrs. Jyoti Pujara and Mrs. Vimmi Thakur. The welcome ceremony of the chief guest was followed by final matches of Cricket, Football, Kabaddi, Karate, Tug of War for both boys and girls of different age categories. There upon,  4 x100 mtrs  Relay was organized for U-19 , U-17 and U-14 boys and girls. The sports stars and budding athletes exhibited their high sports spirit in on-field competitions.

The closing  of the Meet remained vibrant with the dance performances and sports events of the students of Chain of Green Land Schools. The students were cheering for their favourite team in  the final matches played  between different branches . The  last day was culminated with the Prize Distribution Ceremony. The winners were awarded with trophies and medals. The Chief Guest Sh. J.K. Jain., Excise and Taxation Commissioner, Ludhiana along with Sh. Rajesh Rudhra gave away the prizes to the   achievers of academics and co-curricular activities of  Green Land Convent School, Dugri, and Green Land Convent School, Chandigarh Road. The Sports winners were awarded  trophies and  medals by the Chief Guest. The three day Meet finally ended with folding of Flag of Chain of Green Land Schools by the NCC cadets which was followed by release of Pigeons, Balloons and bursting of Crackers.

The Chief Guest expressed his pleasure to be a part of the event. He said that the school has gone an extra mile in organizing this event at such a grand level. He further added that sports build characters and we learn to play as a team by cherishing the sportsmanship. Sports also teach us how to handle victory with grace. Encouraging the budding athletes, he said that if you have tried once you are already victorious.

Addressing the audience, Mr. Rajesh Rudhra, Chairman of the Chain of Green Land Schools, warmly welcomed the Chief Guest, dignitaries, parents and guests and said that Sports form an integral part of Green Land Schools curriculum. Its main aim is to give over all education to develop kinesthetic skills i.e. learning by doing. He further appealed to Central Government, Punjab Government along with other State Governments to promote games, they should make extra efforts and give special benefits to the sports persons. This will increase motivation among children to take more interest in sports and will definitely bring laurels at International Level and will make India proud.

Lohri Celebrations in Green Land Convent School, Dugri.

The festival of Lohri was celebrated in Green Land Convent School, Dugri with great zeal and enthusiasm. Whole school took part in the celebrations. The students danced on the beat of ‘Nigga Nigga Lohri’ and ‘Sunder Munderiye’. The Tiny Tots came attired in traditional Punjabi dresses and brought delicious Punjabi Food. Some students sang songs and bolians’. Students and the teachers enjoyed the warmth of the bonfire. All the legends related to Lohri, including that of Dhulla Bhatti (the Robin Hood of Punjab) were narrated to the students.
The President, Chain of Green Land Schools Mr. Shabad Rudhra extended his felicitations to the students and teachers. In his message he emphasised the need of respect for Punjabi culture and made the students understand the importance of worship of natural deities like Earth, Water and Fire. The Director of the School, Ms. Vijayata also paid her best wishes to the students. In her message she informed the students that Lohri fire symbolized the burning of all the vices and negative deeds of one’s life, the soul hence purged off all the sins gives mankind a fresh start in the following month of ‘Maghi’. The Principal of the School, Ms. Vimmi Thakur congratulated all the students and staff on the auspicious occasion of Lohri. She advised the students to adopt the rich culture and traditions of Punjab and be rooted to their morals and values.
The function ended with the distribution of traditional eatables of Lohri like groundnut, revri and popcorns.


GURUPURAB CELEBRATED AT GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI

350th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji was celebrated with devotion and great religious sanctity at Green Land Convent School, Dugri. A Special assembly was conducted to mark the occasion. The assembly commenced with the soul stirring Shabad Gayan ‘Mitar Pyare Nu…’ which was sung by the school choir. The Students were given an insight into the life of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, his teachings and philosophy. Students delivered speeches and recited poems related to life of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
The President, Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra bestowed his best wishes on this pious occasion. He explained ‘Gurbani’ in simple and effective manner, emphasizing that ‘God is One’ and He resides in every human heart. Each human being should be kind, compassionate, helpful and loving. The School Director, Ms. Vijayata advised the students to follow the path of Guru Ji with utmost sincerity, citing the example that how the sons of Guru Ji obeyed the order of their father and sacrificed themselves. Christmas Celebration at Green Land Convent School, Dugri

Christmas was celebrated with zeal and fervour at Green Land Convent School, Dugri. The entire premises wore a festive look which was decorated with golden balls, stars, santa caps, bells and snowmen. The students of I to III showed their creativity by decorating Christmas trees beautifully. The students came dressed up in colourful dresses. The students celebrated the occasion by singing carols and dancing. It was a party atmosphere filled with the joy of Christmas and New Year festivity. The students danced to the times of ‘Merry Christmas, - Let’s Start Dance’. The carol sung as ‘Merry Christmas’ and musical number ‘Sha la la’ added colour to the festivities. The prominent dignitaries who graced the occasion were Sh. Shabad Rudhra, President Chain of Greenland schools, Mrs. Vijayata, the Director of the school. In his message Sh. Shabad Rudhra congratulated the students on the festive occasion and motivated the students to become a virtuous human being. It was followed by the ceremonial lamp lighting by the Chief Guest, escorted by the Chairman and other dignitaries. ‘Ganesh Vandana: Lord of Success’ a traditional dance to invoke the blessings of the Almighty was presented amidst divine spell. The Principal of Green Land Convent School, Ms. Vimmi Thakur welcomed the guests. The Annual School Report highlighted the chief achievements, events and progress of the school and was presented by the Junior Discipline Incharge. The little blossoms showcased their talent by performing on Punjabi folk song which was greatly appreciated and applauded by the guests. Then was the ‘Lungi Dance’ with children attired in bright lungis matching each step to the beat of the song. The Haryanvi Dance with its robust flavour was enjoyed by all. The tradition & culture of Gujarat was depicted in the marvellous and colourful Garba performed by the girls.
The Punjabi Skit Pind Chuk Glassi based on the theme of drug abuse was performed realistically and in a comical manner but with a profound message. The audience cheered encouragingly. ‘Bollywood Dance’ was a power packed and thrilling dance performed on popular film songs. The Hindi Play Behaviour Science was based on the relationship of a mother-son, brother-sister & friends depicting how these relations play an important role in a person’s life. Everyone was captivated by the touching and spell bound performance of the students.
The function culminated with much awaited prize distribution ceremony wherein the worthy Chief Guest Hon’ble Mayor, S. Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria gave away the trophies to the most deserving and meritorious students and talented artists. The Chief Guest advised the students to be always motivated and to keep working hard sincerely. He said that imparting quality education to children has always been a challenge. He added that students should not only given excellent education but also great morals and values so that they can effectively serve their state as well as their Nation. The Chief Guest was presented a memento by the Chairman Sir and President Sir. In his message the Chairman, Sh. Rajesh Rudhra felicitated the staff and the students for putting up such an extravagant show titled ‘Ankuran’. He blessed the tiny tots who come in the school with dreams in their eyes and ideals in their minds and when they leave the school they are moulded into all round personalities with confidence, truth and values imbibed in them by the teachers. The small children are the bright future of our nation who will lead and develop their country. He added education and values should always go hand in hand.
The function ended with the vote of thanks presented by the President of Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra. He said that parents play a pivotal role in the all-round development of their children. They should spend quality time with them and give them values and morals which will create a deep set bonding with each other. Moreover, the children will not go astray as can be seen these days and will be attached to their roots and tradition. He insisted on strong family ties so that the children can be deep rooted in their religion and morality. Finally, the National Anthem reverberated in the school campus.


LUDHIANA SAHODAYA SCHOOL COMPLEX COLOURING CONTEST HELD IN GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI

Under the agesis is of LSSC, a colouring contest for the Kindergarten section was held at Green Land Convent School, Dugri, 16 schools participated in this creative activity where the artistic talent of the tiny tots was explored. After the formal welcome by the Principal the school choir sang a serene Shabad. After that the contest started.
Mr. Shabad Rudhra, President of Green Land Schools was the Chief Guest. He felt elated to see the tiny hands creating something extraordinary and he encourage the tiny tots to always keep alive creativity in their coming years. He heartily congratulated the winners and the participants.
Ms. Vijayata, Director of Green Land Convent School, applauded the students and their efforts in this activity. She said it is from this tender age the children can be moulded and motivated in their imagination and creativity.
Ms. Vimmi Thakur, Principal, appreciated their colourful artistic work and urged the students to always keep these colours alive in their life.

The function ended with a scintillating and colourful dance presented by the tiny tots and the distribution of trophies and certificates.


WRESTLING CHAMP OF GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI

Sanjeed Singh, a meritorious student of Green Land Convent School, Dugri has made the school proud and brought great laurels to the school by winning the Third position and bagging the Bronze Medal in wrestling in U-19 Category of 60 Kg weight in the 62nd Punjab State School Games 2016-17 held at Distt. Fazilka (Punjab) from 5th to 9th Dec., 2016.
Mr. Shabad Rudhra, President, Chain of Green Land Schools heartily congratulated the proud winner and said that wrestling is the oldest martial art and is a physical competition between two competitors which requires great physical strength and stamina. He added that it was a great opportunity for other students to take inspiration and motivation to play competitive sports which are challenging and skilful.
Ms. Vijayata, Director of Green Land Convent School, felicitated the winner and congratulated him on his great achievement. She encouraged him to reach far greater heights as he had been consistently winning medals and doing hardwork and practice for last many years. She said that Games and Sports instils a sense of competition, perseverance and sportsman spirit.

GURPURAB CELEBRATED IN GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI

Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Prakash Utsav was celebrated with religious sanctity and serenity in Green Land Convent School, Dugri. Students and Staff participated with fervour and gaiety in the holy celebrations. A special assembly was also held to mark this auspicious occasion. The function started with the soulful Shabad Gayan by the school choir which conveyed the message of love and oneness. The students recited poems, gave speeches and sakhis portraying the life history of Guru Ji, his teachings and tenets of universal brotherhood.
This celebration of Prakash Utsav was graced by the President of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra who congratulated everyone on this pious occasion. He explained the meaning of ‘Gurbani’ and said that God is one and He resides in everyone’s heart. Each and everyone should hear the inner voice of self, as it is the voice of God. Ms. Vijayata, Director of Green Land Convent School, bestowed her best wishes and advised the students to follow the path of Guru Ji, which was full of compassion and love for each other. Ms. Vimmi Thakur, Principal, wished the students and staff ‘Happy Gurpurab’ and stressed on the importance of unflinching faith in Guru Nanak Devji’s teachings and ideals.


DIWALI CELEBRATIONS IN GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI

In the spirit of Diwali Celebrations an array of activities for students from Pre-nursery to XII were organized in Greenland Convent School, Dugri. It was mass participation of the students. Creativity and energy was visible everywhere. An air of festivity was witnessed in the school campus which was traditionally decorated with diyas, flowers, buntings, etc. The whole school reverberated with energy and enthusiasm. A colourful rally was conducted by the kindergarten section and the theme was ‘Say No to Crackers.’ Candles were innovatively decorated by the tiny tots of class I to III. Diya decoration was done by class IV and V students. Beautiful Torans were made by the students of VI & VIII and Thali decoration was done by the students of class VIII & IX. Using flowers petals, sawdust, pulses, etc. the students of class X to XII made breathtakingly beautiful and intricate rangolis.
Mr. Shabad Rudhra, President Green Land Schools, took the round of the campus and appreciated the efforts of the students. He said the purpose of education is not only to develop the required knowledge but to develop the capacity and mindset of creation and possibilities. He wished all a Happy and Safe Diwali. DAY OF MANY COLOURS CELEBRATED AT GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI

The Kindergarten Section celebrated Colours Day on 21st Oct., 2016 in GLCS. Dugri. This day was great fun and frolic for all the tiny tots. This day is designed to help the young children to identify and differentiate various colours, talk about them and think about how colours beautify and influence their lives.
Each one of the classes was allocated a colour, for its decoration. The children came dressed in the same colour allocated to their respective class and brought objects – toys, balloons, tiffins and plastic household items in their specific colour. The teachers too were dressed up in the same colour as their pupils. The day began with a short prayer and continued with various activities like singing rhymes and jingles on colours, colour identification game, colour and light designs on sheets etc. They were taught to make balls, kites etc. with coloured paper.
Mr. Shabad Rudhra, President of Green Land Schools was the Chief Guest, who applauded the children and spoke about the significance of the colours in the rainbow and our national flag. Mrs. Vijayata, Director Green Land Convent School, appreciated the efforts of the children and teachers and said the concept of learning through activities is the latest trend and should be followed regularly. PLAYERS OF GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI OUTSHINE IN PUNJAB BOARD DISTRICT TOURNAMENTS

The students of Green Land Convent School, Dugri have brought laurels for the institution as Sanjeed of Class XI – Arts bagged gold medal in Punjab Board District ‘Wrestling Tournament’ held in Khanna whereas Jagmeet Singh and Harsimran Singh of Class – IX B bagged gold medal in Punjab Board District – ‘Table Tennis Tournament’ (U-17) held in K.V.M School, Ludhiana. The President, Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra congratulated the students on their achievements and said that the exemplary display of their talent is the source of inspiration for others to pursue their footsteps. He also expressed his great satisfaction and happiness for the students for their equivalently best performance in sports and studies. GANDHI JAYANTI CELEBRATED IN GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI

The birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation “Mahatma Gandhi” was celebrated in a solemn function in Green Land Convent School, Dugri. The prayer of all religions were recited to invoke peace and harmony all around. The school choir rendered the bhajan ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’ which was the favourite bhajan of Gandhiji. The students presented speeches, poems and skits on the life and principle of Mahatma Gandhi.
The Birth Anniversary of the greatest freedom fighter and Prime Minister of India Lal Bahadur Shastri was also celebrated by paying rich tributes to this simple man who gave a great slogan to the nation ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’.                            
The President, Chain of Green Land Schools Mr. Shabad Rudhra, Director of Green Land Convent School, Dugri, Ms. Vijayata  and Principal Ms. Vimmi Thakur paid floral tributes to the Father of the Nation and lit the ceremonial lamp. In his address, Mr. Shabad Rudhra said that Gandhi ji was an epitome of peace, sacrifice and truth. Each and every child can learn so much from his life and inculcate his morals and values in his life which will lead to path of success.
Ms. Vijayata said Gandhi ji also known as ‘Sabarmati Ke Sant’ whose life was full of principles of truth, non-violence, simplicity, patriotism and spirituality. She urged the students to take up the qualities of Gandhi ji in their life.
Ms. Vimmi Thakur, called Mahatma Gandhi, an ideal in the field of education and his revolutionary ideas stimulates the spiritual, intellectual and overall development of a human being.
The function ended with the recital of the National Anthem.

Sanjeed of class XI of Green Land Convent School, Dugri bagged Silver Medal in U-19 group, weight category 66kg in the Punjab Board Zonal Level Wrestling competition and brought great laurels and prestige for the school. Chess Champs of Greenland Convent School, Dugri Shine in Punjab Board District Tournament

The Chess players of Green Land Convent School, Dugri have brought laurels for the institution by winning 1st Position in U – 14 category (Girls) in Punjab Board District Tournament held at B.C.M School, Shashtri Nagar on 6th & 7th Sept., 2016. The Girls of U – 14 category left no stone unturned during their practice to make their dreams come true. Parneet Kaur, Aditi Rawat, Ridhima, Laksh Kaur, Aarka are the blessed and proud possessors of the winner’s trophy. U – 14 and U – 17 category (Boys) also bagged the prized winner’s trophy. The chess champs of U – 14 category are Naman Singh, Ekam Jot, Anmolpreet Singh, Vineet Bhola, U – 17 category are Prabhpunit Singh, Manvir Singh, Tanvir Singh, Gurvir Singh, Ujjwal and Yuvraj Walia respectively. Six students have been selected to participate at state level chess championship, in U – 14 category (Girls) Aditi Rawat and Ridhima, in U – 14 (Boys) Naman Singh and Vineet Bhola, in U – 17 (Boys) Gurvir Singh and Tanvir Singh. Krishan Janmashtami Celebrations in Green Land Convent School, Dugri

Krishan Janmashtami, an annual celebration of the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna, the 8th avatar of Lord Vishnu, was celebrated with a great religious devotion and festive spirit in Green Land Convent School, Dugri.
Mr. Rajesh Rudhra, Chairman, Chain of Green Land Schools presided over the function together with Mr. Shabad Rudhra, President, Chain of Green Land Schools, Ms. Usha Rudhra, Director, Ms. Vijayata, Mr. Rahul Bir and Ms. Shivangi Bir were also present on the occasion. Ms. Vimmi Thakur, Principal, staff and students. The entire school was transformed into a land of joy, pious celebration and sacredness.
The function started with the breaking of ‘Dahi Matki’, together with dandiya dance, ‘Krishan Snan’ amidst chanting of shlokas and ‘Aarti gayan’. ‘Bal Gopal’ was rocked in a flower decked cradle. All the four houses of school, Kirti, Jyoti, Shakti & Jagriti prepared beautiful Jhankis with themes to depict the life and times of Shri Krishna. Little angels were dressed as Gopis and Gawalas. Traditional dances were presented and chanting of bhajans filled the entire atmosphere with religious favour.
Mr. Rajesh Rudhra conveyed his best wishes to the audience on the occasion and encouraged the children to emulate the good qualities of Krishna like karma justice, kindness and truth. He emphasized on attaching oneself to God in every step and venture of life. He added that we should surrender ourselves completely to the Almighty and do away with pride.
Mr. Shabad Rudhra in his message to the students asked them to follow the path of truth and humility and he also gave the message of Bhagvad Gita. They should follow the philosophy of Krishna to attain success in life.
Ms. Vijayata said that ‘if one renders even a small amount of sincere devotional service’ Krishna becomes obliged to elevate such a person.
Ms. Vimmi Thakur congratulated the students and staff on the occasion and applauded them for their efforts. She emphasized that one has to learn tolerance in the face of both happiness and distress and become free from anxieties.
The function ended with the distribution of Prasad to the students and staff.


INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATED AT GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI

70th Independence Day was celebrated with great patriotic and festive fervour. There was an air of patriotism, unity and nationalism all around the school campus which was beautifully decorated with orange, white and green balloons, triangas, buntings, fresh flowers etc.
The Chairman of Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Rajesh Rudhra presided over the function. He hoisted the ‘Trianga’ along with the President of Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra, Director Mrs. Vijayata Rudhra, Principal Mrs. Vimmi Thakur, staff and students. He took the Guard of Honour of the NCC Cadets and paid floral tributes to Bharat Mata. It was followed by a cultural bonanza including dance numbers, patriotic songs, poems, oath taking ceremony and speeches.
The Chief Guest addressed the audience and said that Independence Day is marked with a feeling of pride and valour. On this day, India became a free country from the shackles of British Raj. Children are the bright future of India and they should be bold and fearless like their ancestors. We should always be loyal to our country and the ‘Trianga.’. We should have discipline, moral values and character to become good. Every work done by us should be in the interest of our country. Mr. Shabad Rudhra congratulated the audience on this glorious occasion. In his message he said that ‘Unity in Diversity’ should be our motto. We should protect our country from internal and external aggression and terrorism. We should take a pledge to eradicate drug abuse and encourage education.
Mrs. Vijayata Rudhra urged the students to believe in Oneness irrespective of class, colour and creed. They should do their duty diligently. Mrs. Vimmi Thakur said that we should be proud to be an Indian and take pride in its heritage, culture and tradition. The solemn function ended with the National Anthem whose echo vibrated all around the school campus.


TEEJ CELEBRATED IN GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, DUGRI

Teej was celebrated by the tiny tots of Green Land Convent School, Dugri with great fun and frolic today. They came dressed up in traditional Punjabi attire, with turbans, suits, parandas, jootis, and splendid finery, etc. A solo dance competition was conducted and the enthusiastic participants were cheered and applauded by all. Jhoolas, beautifully decorated with flowers and buntings were put up for the kids to enjoy on it as a part of the Teej celerations. Sweets in decorated thalis were served to the kids. Saawan King and Saawan Queen were selected and honoured, Tags were given to the Best Gabru, Best Mutiyaar, Best Dressed Boy/Girl, etc.
It was a celebration of culture, tradition, talent and art. It was a delight to watch the tiny tots display their singing and dancing skills. The luminaries who adorned the function were Mr. Shabad Rudhra, President of Chain of Green Land Schools, Mrs. Vijayata Rudhra, Director , Mrs. Vimmi Thakur, Principal and staff of Kindergarten. Mr. Shabad Rudhra congratulated the tiny tots on their stupendous performances, gave the prizes to the winners and blessed them with good wishes on this gala day, where the children learn about their festivals, culture and traditions.

The Kabbadi players of Green Land Convent School, Dugri have brought laurels for the institution by winning 2nd Position in U – 14 Category Boys and 3rd Position in U – 17 Category Boys & U – 19 Category Boys in Punjab Board Zonal Tournament held at Govt. High School, Lalton Khurd on Monday & Tuesday, 8th & 9th August, 2016. The Players of U-14 category, U-17 Category, U-19 Category left no stone unturned during their practice to make their dreams come true. The President, Chain of Greenland Schools Mr. Shabad Rudhra congratulated the students on their achievement. In his message he said, the traditional games like Kabbadi are the real test of one’s stamina and strength. He expressed his satisfaction and happiness for the students for their parallel and equivalently best performance in sports and studies. SU-POSHAN: A Drive Against Childhood Obesity and Junk Food in Green Land Convent School, Dugri


Good health and fitness are the keywords to lead a positive and disease free life. It has been surveyed that there is a decrease in the immunity level in the children and they are being infected with diseases which only adults had earlier and the cause is junk and fried food which leads to obesity, lethargy, hypertension, diabetes etc. Green Land Convent School, Dugri, celebrated ‘A Fitness & Health Awareness Weak’ titled ‘Su-Poshan – A Drive Against Childhood Obesity and Junk Food’ from 2nd August, 2016 to 6th August, 2016 in the school campus to make the students and parents aware about the harmful effects of junk and fried food and the benefits of nutritious and balanced diet.
A number of activities were conducted for classes Pre-Nursery to XII like healthy tiffin eating, poster making and its display, article writing, seminar, PPT’s. ‘A Healthy Food Camp’ was held on Friday and Saturday where healthy, fresh, homemade and nutritious snacks and drinks prepared by the teachers were put up in the stalls and were savoured and relished by the students. The small children tasted and really relished health drinks like aam panna and lemonade. It was really good to see how children were relishing health drinks instead of ‘cold drinks’.
Mr. Shabad Rudhra, President of Chain of Green Land Schools, Mrs Vijayata Rudhra, Director and Mrs. Vimmi Thakur, Principal were present at the Food Camp and tasted the sumptuous snacks and drinks and applauded the efforts of the teachers and students. They advised the students to follow the motto ‘Healthy Mind in a Healthy Body’ which you can achieve by eating healthy, nutritious and balanced diet and to take a pledge not to eat junk and fried food.


Green Land Convent School, Dugri students shine at Sufi Singing Competition

The students of Green Land Convent School, brought laurels for the institution by winning both the 1st Prizes and Overall Trophy in the Ludhiana Sahodya School Complex Sufi Singing Competition held at Darshan Academy on 23/07/16. Fourteen teams from reputed schools of Ludhiana participated in the competition. Chhavi Bakshi of Class XI and Kiran Verma of Class VIII sang Sufi Kalams of Saint Bulle Shah and mesmerized the audience by, their melodious and divine singing. Both were awarded the first prize in their respective categories. The students were congratulated by the President, Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra, who in his motivational tone cheered the champions and advised them to pursue their talents in music and the Director of the School, Ms. Vijayata Rudhra heartily congratulated the winners and applauded them and their soulful singing. She urged the winners to whole heartedly involve themselves in singing and explore more and more their talent.
